The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA’s 2015) — the biggest awards show in Europe — will take place in Milan, Italy on 25 October. The actual nominees are yet to be announced, but several countries have already picked their regional nominations. Winners from their regions will have the chance to win the “Best Worldwide Act” during the actual show.
The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the easiest routes for new artists to become superstars not only in their own country, but also worldwide. This can be seen in the EMA nominations as well. Daniel Kajmakoski, who represented Macedonia in this year’s contest, is one of the five nominees for Best Adria Act.
Italy’s Marco Mengoni has been named as “Best Italian Act” twice already, in 2010 and in 2013, when he represented his country at Eurovision with “L’essenziale”. He is also nominated for this year’s award. Russian Girl group Serebro is up for the best act in Russia. They sang “Song #1” in Helsinki, placing third.
In Germany, Eurovision 2010 winner Lena is one of the five wildcard acts. You can help Lena get nominated by tweeting #NominateLena with #MTVEMA. Lena has won the “Best German Act” award twice, in 2013 and in 2011. This year’s Eurovision runner-up Polina Gagarina is also one of the five wildcard acts in Russia.
Many countries, such as Australia, Finland, Sweden and Belgium are yet to pick their nominees. Who do you think should be nominated in your country? Tell us in the comments below!
