Lauren de Ruyck, who most Belgian fans know simply known as Lauren from Junior Eurovision 2010, recently auditioned for a place in the Belgian-Dutch girl band K3. The search is taking place on the programme “K3 Zoekt K3” (K3 Looking for K3).
As you’ll recall Jill & Lauren sang “Get Up!” in Minsk. An early favourite before the contest, the duo finished in seventh position. They split in 2012.
The search for the new K3
Earlier this year Belgian-Dutch girl trio K3 announced their departure from the music business after a 17-year long career. The trio’s original members — who initially sought to be the Dutch-language Spice Girls — auditioned for Belgium’s Eurosong and a shot at Eurovision 1999 with the song “Heyah Mama”. Their dreams ended in the semis, but the song climbed the charts anyway. They bypassed mainstream play on MTV and instead sought fame by marketing directly to children through TV series. Since then they’ve been idols for Belgian and Dutch children and scored countless hits.

The K3 girls understand they have a good thing going, so are on the hunt for three replacements. Over 6,000 girls auditioned and Lauren was one of them! She successfully convinced the four separate juries — made up of children, fathers, mothers and grandparents — and also the girls of K3 themselves. However, the girls did think that Lauren’s fame may hurt her in the contest.
What do you think of her audition? Watch it below and let us know!
