Eight years ago, the American-born singer Viktor Király came to Hungary and auditioned for Megasztár (the Hungarian version of American Idol). The talented and very good-looking upstart won first place. Since then he’s dropped a steady string of hits in Hungary, and in 2012 and 2014 he competed at A Dal (and came so close to winning). Now, it’s time for something else.
Viktor has auditioned for the The Voice in America, and in doing so he’s gone from getting called “the American boy” in Hungary to being the Hungarian guy in America.
In his blind audition, the cutie performed Marvin Gaye’s soul classic “What’s Going On”, where he triumphed. All four celebrity judges – Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton – were impressed with what they heard and turned their chairs around.

While Gwen Stefani obviously had her eye on Viktor, he eventually chose to be part of Adam Levine’s team. The Maroon 5 frontman was the first to turn and said, “When I turned around, it was like “Oh, this dude wins!” I’m really curious as to what these two can make together. (Yes, I’m a massive fan of both of them, don’t judge me).
Team Wiwi are excited too and we wish Viktor loads of luck. With his talent and personality he has the chance to rule not just America, but the whole world! Fingers crossed for him!

This is type of musical venture I applaud … stepping out of the small Eurovision box and stepping up your game by trying to compete on such a successful TV specially in the US. Good for him! He deserves it … he has an awesome soulful voice the way I like them … real singing with no BS.
I was hoping he’d sing for eurovision one day, i guess this means he might make it too big to ever show up in the contest!
NO WAY. Wow, this American here is excited! His song was my favorite in the 2014 Hungarian final, and it’s great to see a Eurovision star pop up on American TV! 🙂
Is his sister Linda going to try in the U.S.? Or will she try for A Dal 2016? If Viktor wins ‘The Voice U.S.’, he wouldn’t be the first non-U.S. winner. Tessanne Chin, from Jamaica, won the fall 2013 edition. Viktor will have company this fall, as Keith Semple, from Northern Ireland (who once appeared on ‘Popstars: The Rivals), also passed the audition.
he is gorgeous .. i want to see his sister linda try A DAL again in 2016
I AM SO PROUD OF VIKTOR. I LOVED HIS SONG “RUNNING OUT OF TIME”, BUT THIS IS SO GREAT. HE DESERVES THE FAME, HE DESERVES RECOGNITION. I LOVE HIM.
