The last time we heard from Electro Velvet, they’d cancelled their crowdfunding campaign to fund a new EP. But never fear – there’s a new crowd-funding campaign, only this time it’s for an Alex Larke solo project.

Wait, Alex is going solo? OMG, does this mean it’s the end of Electro Velvet?!

Not quite. As Alex explains in his video, “Eurovision was a very heavy experience for both of us, so we both decided to take some time out before putting out a new Electro Velvet release – just to make sure it’s the best it can possibly be.”

So while Bianca is getting her joie de vivre back, Alex is planning an album of his own. He’s not saying what musical direction the new music will take, but given the badboy look of his new publicity photos, we suspect it won’t be electro swing.

Like the Electro Velvet crowdfunding campaign, supporters can donate to get exclusive items, such as Alex’s new CD, a signed poster of Alex or a signed copy of the Electro Velvet single “Still In Love With You”.

electro velvet oh yes

But the hottest item of them all is the suit Alex wore at Eurovision, going for £780. It’s not the glow-in-the-dark stage suit, rather the one Alex wore in the green room at the final. And the one he wears sitting on the toilet in his crowdfunding video.

Alex might be working on a solo project, but Bianca isn’t far from his thoughts. 10% of funds raised from the campaign will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the UK charity that supports people with the same disease that Bianca lives with.

And if you’ve ever wondered if Alex Larke in drag would be a credible threat to Conchita Wurst, the answer is nooooo.

I find it curious that the first genre he mentioned on pledge was ‘breakbeat’

A couple more things…

“From the popular electro-swing duo.” Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! 😀

Why does Alex look distorted and squished on all the pics?

Also, 10% of funds will go to CF Trust AFTER the goal is reached (which will never happen). So your money will not go to charity after all, if you do donate. I’d suggest going to the CF website and donating yourself instead. 🙂

Alex sounds like a great guy, but I think he should stick to what he does best – The Rolling Clones. That being said, why wasn’t this ‘bad boy’ Alex at Eurovision? Instead we ended up with the cheese-fest that was (Is? :() Electro Velvet that is forever destined for childrens entertainment and sailing the seven seas.

Oh what a babe Alex is <3 He is funny with a GreAtY sense of humour 🙂 He seems really sympathetic & nice.. I hope that the desired goal money will be raised for his recording sessions.. 🙂 Such cool singer like him really deserves to get famous & succesful 🙂 I hope that he will not be lost & he will continue to be around.. Both him & Bianca were fine as acts 4 UK…Nothing wrong with them..Its just that their song was not suitable 4 the EuroVision.. *Still In Love With You* would be a fine song to… Read more »
