It’s only been a few days since Bella Paige was announced as Australia’s first ever Junior Eurovision representative, but the 13 year-old is already conjuring up a whirlwind of interest.

Back in February, Europe and Australia were buzzing with excitement when it was announced that Australia would participate in Eurovision 2015. Guy Sebastian gave the Aussies a respectable fifth place finish in Vienna and Eurovision achieved record ratings Down Under.

The Eurovision hype has only intensified since Australia confirmed its Junior Eurovision 2015 participation and it has continued to grow with Bella appearing on Channel 9’s highly popular morning program, The Today Show.

You can watch Bella’s live interview by clicking here.

The segment included a highlight reel with footage from Eurovision stars including ABBA, Conchita Wurst and Guy Sebastian, as well as last year’s JESC stars including Nadezhda Misyakova and Krisia Todorova. She’s in some great company, y’all!

Bella spoke with the show’s hosts Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins, speaking about Junior Eurovision as well as her song “My Girls”. Bella said that “it’s a beautiful song with a powerful message. I sing [about] girls being strong and supporting each other, so it’s a really powerful message and I love singing it”.

The hosts also mentioned that the song was originally intended for Anja Nissen, before asking Bella about her plans for the future. She wants to continue making music and to that we say, yes please!

What do you think of Bella’s chances at Junior Eurovision 2015? Does Australia have good reason to be excited?

I think Bella is a great singer and the song is a smart choice. But in my opinion the chorus is too much like ‘Girl is on fire’ from Alicia Keys. So as a musician (I am) I think that for the competition it is a great choice, but I don’t think the song itself is a very special one. This thing is very solid and mainstream, so I think it will do well, but that’s about it.
