Tim Schou has never been afraid to shock. We first witnessed the former A Friend In London frontman’s need to scandalise at Eurovision 2011, when he expressed a desire to “f**k” Dutch tv presenter Mandy Huydts. The Dane’s fondness for gentle offence has continued ever since, and perhaps reaches new heights with the launch of his latest single “Gravity”.

First off, we need to talk about the video. Let’s set the scene. Do we have any Modern Family fans? Y’all will surely remember the episode where one of the show’s central couples, Claire and Phil, decide to spice up their Valentine’s Day celebrations by indulging in some role play as Julianna and Clive. The pair meet at a bar with the intention to move the fun up to the bedroom. Needless to say, everything goes hilariously wrong and much laughter ensues.

Claire and Phil Julianna and Clive

It seems Tim has seen the show too, because, give or take a few differences, the plot to his video is almost identical. And it’s even laugh out funny. Alas, we doubt the comedy is intentional. Things start to get ridiculous from the moment we meet Schou’s femme fatale. Instead of your stereotypical supermodel, we’re presented with a woman who appears to be wearing a mop on her head. More sniggers follow as they head to bed. There’s lots of bum and nipple action, but no sex appeal or allure. The line between sexy and smutty is a thin one, and Tim and his friend are most definitely on the wrong side. It feels and looks like cheap, home-made soft-porn. No thanks!

Regular readers will know that we’re rarely ones to shy away from a little nudity. But everyone’s got standards. Give us a sultry Vaidas in the shower or an arty bum in a Marco Mengoni video any day. Offer us a three minute simulated ride on Tim’s rocket? We’ll pass.

Video aside, the actual single is fine. “Gravity” is a typical Tim Schou solo track. Over dramatic, American sounding, R&B flavoured pop. It’s nice, if somewhat forgettable. Ironically, the lyrics have nothing to do with randy sex sessions. Tim feels lost like an “alien”, thinking deep thoughts as he stares at the moon, wishing for a new life. How this correlates with the video is a mystery. Tim we love you, but sometimes we do worry.

What do y’all think? Are you turned on by the bold Dane? Or is it all a tad too much? Let us know in the comments below. And if you want to see more Schou, check out his profanity filled interview with Deban. It’s well worth a watch.

Tim Schou Interview Summer 2015

Tim Schou – Gravity Lyrics

Living on the earth like an alien
Wondering if the stars will align again
It’s an S.O.S a state of emergency
I feel like no one out there is hearing me

Through the clouds and the thunder
What lies beyond I’ll wonder
Out of this atmosphere

Take me to space
Where there is no gravity
Lightyears away
To a new galaxy

Take me to space
As far as the eye can see
Lightyears away
Where there is no gravity

Lying here staring up at the moon
Hoping maybe I will be leaving soon
I close my eyes and dream about taking flight
Cos I don’t want to stay here another night

Through the clouds and the thunder
What lies beyond I’ll wonder
Out of this atmosphere

Take me to space
Where there is no gravity
Lightyears away
To a new galaxy

Take me to space
As far as the eye can see
Lightyears away
Where there is no gravity

Black holes, infinity
Too dark to see my destiny
If the universe is my enemy
It can’t hold me down

Take me to space
Where there is no gravity
Lightyears away
To a new galaxy

Take me to space
As far as the eye can see
Lightyears away
Where there is no gravity

Take me to space
Lightyears away
Where there is no gravity

This is actually a nice song. And a nice peek at Tim’s nice hot ass. Now I wonder, if it were two men having it going on, would you, writer of the article, rate it differently? I really dont see the problem with the video to this song.

The song is one of the best songs I have ever listened to. I can’t stop singing it.
The video is great. I would rather watch something with style like this video than watch something boring with someone just standing there singing or jumping around like fools. The lady in the video is very beautiful Tim pick her very well. Can’t wait for more of Tims song and video’s.

I so not agree on this. I simply adore this song. It’s amazing. It’s a really catchy song too. It’s stuck in your head for days. It might be my absolute favorite. The video is awesome too. It’s hot and sexy. The lyricks and video fit perfectly together. I think we all need to let everything out once in a while. Escaping from reality and dreaming of a place far away. I’m very happy that this song is out 🙂

I LOVE the song and I LOVE the video!
And I think the video reflects the lyrics very well…..escaping once in a while, having a time out!
You can’t imagine how happy I am that one of my fave Schou songs finally breathes 🙂

You may be right about the mop hair and soft porn but the HIGHLY disagree with your assessment of the song. Taking lyrics at face value is just like taking poetry at face value. Wrong! By this assessment Julio Iglesias is singing about rivers and oceans in Agua Dulce Agua Sala. Try to really listen to the true meaning behind the words.
Also. Gravity is not forgettable. I’ve had the song stuck in my head for days!

Anyone who knows Tim Schou should have been aware that this was coming … there is no surprise to the level of provocative sex scenes and intimacy showcased here. Tim has always been a consciously sexual magnet eager to shock or get a reaction out of everyone with the music he does. Honestly the video hasn’t really shocked me that much … this is no Price and his 1992 “Sexy mother f*****” or Madonnas’s “Erotica” so maybe we should not exaggerate on our prudish misjudgment of it. We’re all part of the MTV generation and certain music gets neglected due… Read more »
