He wowed Eurovision viewers with his contemporary moves to “Rhythm Inside”, but last night Loïc Nottet showed his versatility as a dancer. Judges and the audience alike were impressed with Loïc’s foxtrot style on the new series of France’s Danse avec les stars.

In France and Belgium, Loïc is mainly known as a singer, for both his appearance on The Voice Belgique and Eurovision, but last night he introduced viewers to his other creative passion – dance. On the French version of Dancing with the Stars/Strictly Come Dancing, Loïc has partnered with the dancer Denitsa Ikonomova. The pair performed a foxtrot to “Homeless”, the hit single by French Got Talent winner Marina Kaye.
Loïc brought drama and precision to his steps, and had a few opportunities to deliver some of the flourishes that made his Eurovision performance so memorable. It wowed the studio audience, earning the pair a standing ovation. The judges were also impressed, awarding Loïc 31/40 points – the second highest score of the night.
Loïc has always had a love of dance. As he explained to wiwibloggs in Vienna, “It’s a part of me”. In May, Loïc released an ambitious dance film based on “Rhythm Inside” called “Alice in Nightmareland”.
His impressive start to Danse avec les stars has suggests that Loïc is going to be a stand-out contestant this series.
@Nitzan: I don’t know about the other countries, but in France it’s quite common to have contestants who’ve had some kind of dance training in the course of their career (singers, actors, etc.). Contestants like Alizée, Matt Pokora, Amel Bent, Tonya Kinzinger, Shy’m, etc. were no actual beginners. Besides, Loïc is an amateur dancer, he’s never done it professionally.
