Let there be no doubt:Â Marco Mengoni is the most successful Italian pop singer of the moment.
During the past 12 months Marco has notched up an enviable record of success. The 26-year-old — who was also Italy’s Eurovision 2013 entrant — recently topped the Italian FIMI charts with his single Ti ho voluto bene veramente (I really loved you). In just a week it’s already poised for Gold Certification. His third studio album Parole in circolo (Circulating words) sold more than 150,000 copies, and each single — Guerriero (Warrior), Esseri umani (Human beings) and Io ti aspetto (I wait for you) — went at least Platinum. And he sold out his tour.
Yesterday, the Italian stallion won another important prize — and not for his unchallenged beauty! Once again he won Best European Act (Best Worldwide Act – Europe) at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2015, beating famous European artists like Little Mix and Eurovision acts like Lena and Daniel Kajmakoski.
His Army (that’s Mengoni’s fan club) have helped push him to the top before. Since 2010 he has won Best Italian Act three times, Best European Act two times and Best South-European Act once. In short, when Marco is among the nominees there is no hope for anyone else!
Lesbihonest: the show was boring as hell and just as long, and we regret we’ve lost precious hours of our life watching it. But when a Eurovision entrant gets international recognition we’re always happy! Bravo Marco!
As a Brit: Little Mix are awful. To be honest, it was a tough battle between Marco and Lena who were easily the best out of the nominees. Glad one of them won though!
AGIR is the best!!
You know, it’s an online voting thing, so basically his voters voted much than the others. Probably Little Mix’s or Lena’s fans didn’t pay attention to this award like Mengoni’s army (usually he wins every single online-voting award where he’s nominee).
But Marco won at the EMA’s in 2010 and 2013 as well, and the show wasn’t in Italy 🙂
Eso lo dira la MTV una empresa privada, Marco es buen artista pero el mejor del continente pes como que NO
Wrong winner! Lena should’ve won the award. Her songs are modern and worldwide hits. In english.
