This afternoon the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — traveled to Yerevan to take some glorious photos of Mount Ararat. We fell in love with the city so we felt inspired to review Mika‘s Junior Eurovision 2015 track ‘Love’. Are we loving Armenia’s ditty, or is it more of a love/hate relationship? Read on to find out…

‘LOVE’ REVIEWS – MIKA
Robyn: This is so good! A great big 1960s-style gospel-inspired soul number, complete with a call-and-response bit that ought to be amazing live. There’s so much packed into this song and if the video is anything to go by, Mika is a proper little soulman. Preach it, brother!

Antranig: Betty’s “People of the Sun” is one tough act to follow, but Mika holds his own! It’s like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets a kids’ game show meets an anime cartoon. I love the quirky video and the Armenian lyrics are beautiful! The recent JESC winners have had more adult-friendly songs but if a kid-friendly song is going to win this year, Armenia will run away with the prize! I absolutely LOVE it!

William: I’m in love with “Love” and it’s only a matter of time before Europe is too. This song builds from the first note to the last and my only criticism is that I want Mika to sing for six minutes instead of three! Fun, funky, fabulous — this is the closest thing to perfect in this year’s contest.

Angus: Mika is waaaaaaaaaaaaay out in front for me: he’s locked down kid and adult appeal to play to televoting kids and adult jury members. “Love” is freaking catchy. The video theme is strong, so it can definitely be transferred to stage and Mika has charisma in abundance. If he doesn’t win it would be a shock to me.

Deban: Perhaps one of my least favourite radio entries, but visually, this is a clear winner. Mika has got guts, gusto and bundles of energy. If the music video is a teaser of what we’ll see on stage, then “Love” is a contender for victory.

Josh: Armenia never fail to disappoint me when it comes to Junior Eurovision. Mika’s song is uptempo, catchy and fun, and the film clip for it is styled magnificently. If the same sort of theme is bought to the JESC stage, this is to be a sure contender for a top three spot. L-O-V-E I-T!

Rezo: It’s a catchy song with a fantastic video — it’s dripping with enthusiasm and creativity. I think Armenia stands a good chance of winning with this.

This song is the undisputed winner of most original video award… great vibes and choreography in addition to festive colors and an original theme. I think many young kids will be instantly won by Mika and his pretty dancers. I think that the quality of JESC entries this year, as well as the somewhat repetitive theme with Armenia’s last year song will make it difficult for Mika to score as high as Betty. Nice paced song with great musical elements, can get a bit repetitive at times, but the charismatic performer and the elaborate performance will totally lift it to probably the top 3, having the benefit of being child and jury friendly. It’s a 7.5/10 for me and my 8th place. Good luck Armenia!!
I think fight for victory wili be between Australia and Armenia, but I think Austrial wili be overrated like Sweden at Eurovison, and that wili help Australia to win .
Yerevan 2016 for JESC and Yerevan 2017 for ESC hopefully. Fingers crossed for Iveta!
Hate it. One of the worst this year! It gets worse every listen IMO lol. 2/10
very slick, savvy and sumptuous clip. The concept is brilliant, the styling is superb, and Mika can certainly hold a tune with finesse and a stroke of artistry, but is the tune really original or is it a retro salute to CinemaScope and Big Band movies?
I have no doubt that Armenia is going to woo us with dazzling choreography and elaborate staging, but is this enough to win and is it wise for one or two countries to pull out all the stops knowing they have a captive audience? I don’t think so. 7/10

This is the typical song one must sing to get the VICTORY . It’s fantastic , absalutely amazing , catchy , meaningful … A piece of love for me , a piece of love for you Europe . 10/10 – It ought to win the contest .

Caucasian countries (with an exception of Azerbaijan) always produce the most fitting songs to the JESC.
The team behind their JESC entries in Armenia is do their work way more better than the people who are producing the Armenian entry to the actual contest.
It’s sooooo good. Sufficiently childish, but also adult-friendly.
