Not all hopefuls can win, but in Eurovision some songs get a second chance. Since 1987 the international fan club of Eurovision  OGAE has organized a competition for songs which didn’t win their national selection but are just too good to let go. Last year Sweden took their fourteenth victory with Helena Paparaziou’s “Survivor”, so once again we “travelled” to Stockholm to see this year’s edition of the OGAE Second Chance Contest.

OGAE SECOND CHANCE CONTEST 2015 RESULTS

Thirty-two juries all over Europe cast their votes and Italy’s Nek has emerged as the winner. Their song “Fatti avanti amore” (Step Forward Love) was a favourite during Italy’s Sanremo festival, so we weren’t surprised to see it receive a total of 305 points. The host country Sweden finished second with Mariette’s “Don’t Stop Believing” leaving Denmark’s Anne Gadegaard in third place. Nordic brothers Finland and Norway round out the top five, represented by Satin Circus and Erlend Bratland respectively.

In July we asked you which song you think should win the Secong Chance Contest this year. With 581 votes the winner was the runner-up Sweden, with Latvia’s Markus Riva placing second and Belarus’ Milki coming third.

You can watch the full results and the voting by clicking here. Below you can also watch our first reaction to the list of contestants, filmed on July 21.

Are you happy with the results? Who was your favourite? Tell us in the comments!

Next year they ought to include every single country that holds a national song contest, and pick either the 2nd-place finishers, the people’s choices or the bookies’ favorites (if the bookies’ pick or people’s pick fails to qualify for Eurovision 2016).

You’ll get no argument from me. Even though I picked Nek (ITA) for 11th, I couldn’t get his song out of my head. I picked Anne Gadegaard (DEN) for 1st, Dawa (AUT) for 2nd, and Martina Majerle (SLO) for 3rd. Seven of my top 10 made the OGAE top 10.

Very much agree, I was rooting for Nek during Sanremo, so I’m more than happy with this! Though I must say I also wanted Mariette to win, but I guess having her in second is also good.

Italy deserved it!

Italy would had won the whole thing with “Fatti avanti amore” for sure. Il Volo was okey, but with Nek, Sweden could’t have done anything.

What does this mean? Italy’s bad song won and Latvia is on the bottom of the results? I don’t trust the OGAE’s taste anymore.
