While hanging at Junior Eurovision in Sofia last week, the team from wiwibloggs was beyond excited to learn that Lizi Pop — one of our favourite JESC alums — would present Georgia’s points. While we were hanging in the lobby of the Hilton Sofia, the pint-sized diva came sauntering up and we just had to pull out our microphones for a quick chat.

In the interview, which you can watch below, she tells us all about her new single “An Unloved Child’s Pain“, which is a tribute to those coping with verbal and physical abuse. “Stuff happens,” she says. “Life is not just happy…tragedy happens. The reality is that there’s sad stuff happening around the world. I want to tell people that it’s important to have hope, and to think about things other than just having a good time. Again, it’s not just happiness”.

She also tells us that she keeps in touch with many of her peers from JESC 2014, that she is best friends with the members of The Virus, and that Data Pavliashvili is her classmate. When discussing the Vere River flood in Tbilisi, she lightens the mood by sharing a story on how her mother and grandmother went to get doughnuts as the waters rose. In happy times and sad, a girl has to eat.
