Eurovision fan media is buzzing with the rumour that Serbian pop star Jelena Karleusa may be Serbia‘s representative for Stockholm. Serbian news site Srbija Danas reports that broadcaster RTS is strongly considering internally selecting the hugely popular Balkan diva as its artist for 2016.
Jelena added to the excitement by tweeting a link to a report on the rumour.

Jelena’s friend, Serbian Eurovision winner Marija Serifovic asked her followers what they thought of the idea.
Jelena has released ten successful albums and currently has the most followed Instagram account in the Balkans with over 750,000 followers. And she has major swagger. Jelena has claimed that Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé copy her style, and has her own fashion line, JK Wear. But she’s more than a fashionista: she’s also a major advocate of Serbia’s LGBT community.
Last year Jelena told Alo magazine that she was interested in Eurovision:
“For more than a decade, out of spite, I refused any talk about it because of the bad attitude of the late Tijanic [the late director of RTS] and RTS against me. Now that I have the support of domestic and especially foreign media, Eurovision seems like an interesting idea. I would certainly be honoured if our nation wants it.”
Last year Jelena was rumoured to be in talks with RTS to represent Serbia in Vienna, but eventually pulled out as she did not want to take part in a national final.
Srbija Danas‘s source says that the broadcaster has not yet formally asked Jelena, but this will be done within the next two months, no later than February.
