After two rounds of auditions that were full of crazy performances and plenty of questionable songs (and one set of zombies and one live goose that served as a stage prop), the jury in Belarus has decided on the ten songs that will compete in the Belarusian national final for Eurovision 2016. They’ve extracted a few diamonds from the rough. The power now shifts from the jury to the people. During the final — which will take place sometime before January 25  only the televoters will have a say in who is headed to Stockholm.

1. Kirill Yermakov (Running To The Sun)
2. Radiovolna (Radiowave (Ne Shodi S Uma)
3. Alexandr Ivankov (How To Fly)

I see Kirill Yermakov triumphing in the constest.

I’m rooting for Aleksandr Ivanov, NAPOLI or Valeriya Sadovskaya will get to represent Belarus at the Eurovision next year. Their songs would likely send Belarus back into the finals with a possible Top 5 finish. They might just deliver Belarus their first win, even!

The jury really got rid of the songs that would become a success in Stockholm.
For example:

No chance for Belarus this year.

I oddly like a lot of these. 1) Valeriya Sadovskaya – “Not Alone” 2) Alexander Ivanov – “How to Fly” 3) Kirill Yermakov – “Running to the Sun” 4) Napoli – “My Universe” 5) Alexey Gross – “Flame” 6) The Em – “Turn Around” 7) Sasha Zakharik – “Glory Night” 8) Radiovolna – “Radiowave (Ne shodi s uma)” 9) Navi – “Gyeta zyamlya” 10) Anastasiya Malashkevich – “Pray for Love” I’d be happy with any of them but my last three winning. Navi and Radiovolna are just boring, while I don’t like Anastasiya at all. The title is so cringeworthy… Read more »

Where is Natasha Bogdanova with “Hello” on list of finalist. She wili win final , thanks to 100 % televote. At Eurovision she will be in TOP 5 with televote, and 18 or 19 with juries in semfinal. Maybe in combined score she wili go to final.

After this very poor songs, after national final, they will maybe change the winner song, or change and choose another singer and song . Remember 2005, 2010 they started with choose song for national final, they they choose groups , group got song, and after that group change song. They change song in 2011 because song is published before than EBU rules. In 2012 they had also change the winner, thanks to president reaction after the result of televote.

“Pray For Love” has got to win. I’m very disappointed neither the zombies nor Kattie got through.

There were some amazingly terrible entries which I’d rather have seen make it.

How to fly, not alone, pray for love my favourites. If Belarus couldn’t qualify last year with a decent song I can’t see them making it with any of these.

Really good choices made by the jury for what Belarus was given (by the way, why all the sudden hype for Sweet Brains? Novelty acts are so mid 2000’s) So far: Alexander Ivanov’s song has a ton of great potential and with a studio version could serve as a strong contender in Stockholm, but the Eduard Romanyuta hair doesn’t do him any favors Valeriya Sadovskaya’s Not Alone is listenable, but probably won’t go very far as it gets excruciatingly repetitive and slightly messy at the end. Other than that, I don’t mind it. Pray for Love is a departure from… Read more »

My top 5 (and the only songs I like)
1. Alexander Ivanov with “How to Fly” (I really like this one, it could be much better with some production, esthethics and lighting)

3. Alexey Gross with “Flame”
4. Kirill Yermakov with “Running to the Sun”

Haven’t they said something about privileging songs in belarussian at some point? Haha.
Anway, can’t pick a Eurovision winner in there. Nor a finalist. I’ll give it another listen later on, but every song just sounds… decent. Nothing outstanding in there :/
