It’s the 1st of December and Christmas has arrived in Eurovision land! Here are three sparkly new songs from ESC alumni to kickstart the holiday season.

ELEFTHERIA ELEFTHERIOU — “KANE MIA EFXI”

It may be 18 degrees in Nicosia, but Cyprus’ Eleftheria Eleftheriou is still bringing the snowflakes. The 2012 Greek representative has swapped her ‘Aphrodisiac’ with some good old mince pies and is urging listeners to “Make a wish” at this magical time of year. It’s essentially a standard pop song with a couple of sleigh bells thrown in here and there – but what more could you want?

GABRIELA GUNCIKOVA & MARTA JANDOVA — “SANTA SUPERSTAR”

The brass is coming out, as 2015 Czech representative Marta Jandová joins forces with Gabriela Guncíková for their single “Santa Superstar”. The music video is a strange affair – for some reason we find a middle-aged man lip-syncing in front of lots of sexy Mrs Claus dancers, followed by Father Christmas discovering himself on a strip pole. I think this may be one of the times when I’m thankful that I don’t speak Czech…

TONY HADLEY & NINA ZILLI — “FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK”

English pop singer Tony Hadley has teamed up with Italian songstress Nina Zilli for their own version of the 1988 classic, “Fairytale Of New York”. Whilst Hadley works dem cruise-ship vocals, Zilli sounds as classy as ever. The production is more or less identical to the original, but it’s nice to hear some new voices on one of the most repeated songs of the season.
