Robin Stjernberg has kept himself busy since his Eurovision stint for Sweden in 2013. Post Malmö we’ve seen him don a fat suit, take to the dance floor and embark on an unlikely collaboration with Flo Rida. But he returns to basics with his latest single “Locked Into You”.
The track harks back to his 2013 album “Pieces”, and could easily sit alongside the likes of “You” or “Crime”. He’s doing what he does best — an absolute belter of a ballad! The instrumental may be minimal, but the breathtaking vocal is well able to stand on its own. Those high notes are classic Stjernberg.
The whole thing is emotional, rul emotional. Robin sings of someone he loves. They’ve hurt him, but he won’t — nay, can’t — give up on them. He’s been wronged repeatedly (“I give while you take”), yet feels compelled to stick it out (“yeah I’m locked into you”). One can’t help but empathise. And if the lyrics don’t get to you, his delivery sure as hell will — that falsetto is to die for.

The Idol Sverige 2011 runner-up returned to his old stomping ground a few weeks ago to perform the new song. We bet there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Robin Stjernberg – Locked Into You Lyrics
You taking cover
So you never could fall
And the tears of us others
You don’t see them at all
Always hoping tomorrow
You’ll be back here with me
They keep saying you’re hollow
I keep chasing a dream
I keep chasing a dream
Cause you throw me away with a broken heart
Then you spit in my face leaving me to starve
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
When you drown me in tears for a dollar bill
It ain’t hard to be clear who I’m dealing with
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
Tied round my body
Is a bound I can’t break
You keep saying you love me
And I give while you take
I know you got a story
You don’t want me to hear
But you hold it against me
Everytime I’m not there
Everytime I’m not there
Cause you throw me away with a broken heart
Then you spit in my face leaving me to start
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
When you drown me in tears for a dollar bill
It ain’t hard to be clear who I’m dealing with
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
Cause I keep holding on
Hoping you’ll get strong
I know what you’ve been through
It ain’t because of you
But now you’re just a name
A picture in a frame
When now you have to be
With someone there for me
Cause you throw me away with a broken heart
Then you spit in my face leaving me to start
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
When you drown me in tears for a dollar bill
It ain’t hard to be clear who I’m dealing with
But I’m locked into you
Yeah I’m locked into you
@Charles Sorry, I meant to clarify that they have similar vocal styles, LOL. 😉
@Slightly Biased ESC Fan: Though vocally on the same level … Adam has a different attitude in the way he carries himself as a performer between being bold but classy at the same time …. Robin on the other hand truly showcases himself in a cool and classy way. Lack the boldness from Adam but he does not even need it … that is not who Robin is, while Adam has a complete different personality and that shows in his performances (check his Queen concerts). Now having both in a duet, that sounds tempting for me 🙂
I loved his Eurovision song a lot, he has a killer voice. I wonder if he’s ever considered working with Adam Lambert since their styles are quite similar.
Robin is such a talented and humble guy and sadly became the hate-targer from so many fans due to all the things fans hated about the 2013 ESC edition … I wonder who will face similar fate next year … cuz the anti-Sweden hate is still there for the good and for the bad.
Your FAVOURITE Swiss entrant has a new song 😀 and he has over 11000 views for one night! Haahha lol
