It’s been an interesting few weeks in Croatia. After the country’s unexpected return to Eurovision and a few mysterious clues that may point to the country’s next participant, the land of a thousand islands has lost its Head of Delegation.

Yesterday HRT revealed that Aleksandar Kostadinov, Croatia’s HoD for Eurovision events since 2001, has left his job at the state broadcaster. It’s nothing personal: his wife got a job in Brussels that was too good for the family to turn down.

Apart from steering Croatia’s participation in Eurovision events, he’s also been a presenter and editor of various entertainment shows on HRT, as well as Chairman of the EBU’s Board of Entertainment and the Head of Press for The Voice Croatia.

His last appearance as part of the delegation was Junior Eurovision 2014 in Malta, where Croatia finished last. His successor is yet to be determined.

Croatia follows in the footsteps of France, the Czech Republic and Germany. Their state broadcasters have all replaced or installed new HoDs ahead of Eurovision 2016.

Does this signal a fresh start for Croatia? Let us know your thoughts below!

Let’s hope that this will take them in a better direction with a new HoD.
