OGAE Video Contest 2015

Their annual Song Contest just wrapped up, but OGAE has already launched its fourth competition of the year – the OGAE Video Contest. Similar to its sister event, national branches of the Eurovision fan network nominate an original song from their country. However, as the title suggests, the track must be accompanied by an official music video. Also, songs must have been released within the previous 24 months, while the national language rule does not apply. Eighteen countries have entered the 2015 edition.

Last year, Indila won the double for France, with “Dernière Danse” scooping the Song Contest title and “Tourner Dans La Vide” taking the Video Contest.

Les Bleus are hoping to do the same once again. Kendji Girac has already won the 2015 Song Contest with “Andalouse”, and now he’ll compete for the video crown with “Color Gitano”. The line-up boasts several other well-known names including Belgium’s Stromae, Macedonia’s Rennata, Germany’s Oonagh and Portugal’s Kátia Averio (aka Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister).

As always with OGAE fan events, the list is dominated by former Eurovision contestants. Armenia, Poland, Greece, Montenegro, Ukraine and Belarus are sending tracks by Sirusho, Justyna Steczkowska, Helena Paparizou, Who See, Ani Lorak and Dmitry Koldun respectively. Surprisingly, OGAE Rest of World has eschewed all the superstars which originate from the vast region, opting instead to go with the relatively unknown Australian group Architecture in Helsinki.
