Yesterday we learned that fan favorite Sergey Lazarev has been chosen to represent Russia in Stockholm next May. Today we learned more about the dream team responsible for his entry for Eurovision. No doubt about it, Russia is in it to win it!

Here we go again .. ? @fkirkorov @iliaskokotos #esc2016

A post shared by Dimitris Kontopoulos (@dimitriskontopoulos) on

Producer Philipp Kirkorov has assembled a dream team to work on the song, including songwriter Dimitris Kontopoulos and choreographer Fokas Evangelinos. Kirkorov said that Lazarev was hesitant to enter the contest but changed his mind as soon as he heard the song.

A Russian version of Sergey Lazarev’s song will be released before the new year, while a team of Swedish, Greek and Russian songwriters are working on the three-minute version that will go to Stockholm with English lyrics.

In a recent interview, Kirkorov revealed that he was collaborating with Greek songwriter Dimitris Kontopoulos. Both men have a deep connection with the contest, having created many successful Eurovision entries together like 2008’s second-placed “Shady Lady” by Ani Lorak or Russia’s 2014 entry “Shine” by the Tolmachevy sisters.

The stage presentation will be handed to Fokas Evangelinos, the man responsible for such renowned Eurovision choreography as Dima Bilan’s 2006 entry with the piano woman and Farid Mammadov’s amazing stage presentation in 2013.

Philipp Kirkorov seems confident with Russia’s 2016 entry, but are you? Do you think Sergey can bring mother Russia its second victory? Let us know in the comment section below!

Greece doesn’t have the money to pay them right now, and I very much doubt that the current leftist administration is interested in sending a pop star like Rouvas or Kalomira anytime soon. Fokas has already given victory to Greece once and now they go where the money is. Good for them.

People do know one of the main reasons people vote for Russia is because of the unfair booing their participants get. The more booing the more mass voting from individuals

Russia will not win again anytime soon.. as they behave on a political and national level it is not likely.

I just watched a vid of that Russian guy on youtube, and I particularly hated it. Sure, I dislike almost everything that comes from Russia, but that video, ??? ??? ???, is just rubbish. Couldn’t watch it until the end.

There is no way that Russia will be able to host the 2017 contest given everything that is going on. The juries will vote Sergey down.

On the song itself, it looks like Russia is shying away from the peace ballads in favour of a dance track.

St. Petersburg 2017 seems like a highly likely scenario. Although with all that’s going on between Russia and Isis now, I think the world is supposed to like the Russians again.

The only thing I worry about is if Russia is ever hosting again, would countries boycott it? I hope not

They are really a “dream team”. They always managed to have a top 7 place. I don’t think there is any other team that has managed something like that. 2004: Fokas Evangelinos was the stage director of Greece (3rd place) 2005: Fokas Evangelinos was the stage director of Greece (1st place) 2006: Kirkorov was the producer & Fokas Evangelinos the stage director of Russia (2nd place) 2007: Kirkorov was the composer,Kontopoulos the music producer and Fokas Evangelinos the stage director of Belarus (7th place) 2008: Kirkorov was the composer,Kontopoulos the music producer and Fokas Evangelinos the stage director of Ukraine… Read more »

I said this in your swiss poll, but I say this here too:
Why did you just put Kaceo in your old poll? I wanted to vote for Kaceo, but I have already voted when Stephanie Palazzo was in, could you please just re-publish your poll?
