Today is the big day for Italy! Pretty much everyone in the country has stopped what they’re doing to sit in front of the TV. They’re dying to hear the voice of Carlo Conti, the perma-tan TV host and artistic director of Sanremo 2016, announce the 20 artists who will compete in this year’s edition of the festival.
The long-lasting Italian music festival, which is also the basis of Eurovision, will turn 66 in February but remains the most watched and most talked-about television program in the country. But Eurofans know it primarily as RAI’s national selection for Eurovision 2016. That’s certainly the most important aspect of this for us! After weeks of rumours and one big fat denial from Italy’s most famous singing nun, we finally have the names. They are…

Il Volo won the last edition of Sanremo with the song “Grande amore”. It went on to place third at Eurovision 2015.
I wish noemi will be the sanremo winner, she has been already abroad and she has the right voice for esc…wishing her all the best we will see
Probably the only national “final” worth watching (even though Sanremo is not really a ESC selection contest). It’s still as classy and big as it was 70 years ago, and it still produces interesting winners and nice songs.
Can you imagine Annalisa vs. Iveta Mukuchyan vs. Molly Sanden in the final!? I just squealed… With the strength of the fields across Europe, ESC16 could most definitely be the year of the fierce female soloist.
Por favor equipo Wiwi hechar un vistazo en la pagina de Eurovision Spain.Hay una noticia de una estafa relacionada con ESC 2010, creo que toda Europa y los fans de ESC deverian saber.por favor.Gracias
🙁 Where are Chanty and Nek?
I want Il Volo back 🙁
I wante Il Volo back 🙁
Something not noted in the article is Enrico Ruggeri participated in ESC in 1993. Valerio also won Sanremo a few years ago (song wasn’t that spectacular but oh well).
Francesca Michelin! wow.
Unlike someone else below, I think this has potential to be a very good Sanremo year! Although that doesn’t necessarily mean good results in Eurovision — just to make that clear.
Please, not Annalisa! I hate her music
i think Arisa,Annalisa(wea)or Dolcenera (universal)going to Stockholm!
The Strawberry is back! I liked Siamo uguali so hopefully the new song is just as good.
Super excited for Francesca Michielin, “L’amore esiste” is an amazing song. Of course, I’m also very excited for Annalisa. While I liked “Una finestra tra le stelle” last year, most of her songs are way better, like the masterpiece “Alice e il blu”. I very rarely like Italy’s entries (I know, unpopular opinion) so I’m hoping something great will get picked.
I hope Francesca Michelin will be the winner.

The artists that I hope will rappresnet my country are: Noemi, Arisa, Dolcenera or Annalisa
Well , they can never be better than il volo…
Yeeees Francesca and Lorenzo!!! Really hope they have great songs!
It seems like 2016 will be a weaker Sanremo year, and it’s also nice to see the singers are participating with the purpose of going Eurovision! That’s cool!
Well, Arisa and Francesca Michielin are my favourites for now – before we hear the songs. “Controvento” was just great, and she won in the wrong year, really. Hope this year she’ll be representing Italy!
What happened with suor Cristina?
Nice to see Annalisa trying again, maybe this is the year of a woman representing Italy?
2011 – man
2012 – woman
2013 – man
2014 – woman
2015 – man
2016 – woman?
LORENZO STRAWBERRY! ????
