IEIEOHH… I mean… HO, HO, HO! Santa is spreading joy and happiness across Spain and RTVE has given us further proof today. After announcing a national final earlier this month, Spain’s national broadcaster has finally decided on its six hopefuls for Eurovision 2016. All of you silently suffering will officially be relieved of your pain and wonder sometime between 28 and 31 December.

In recent weeks Eurofans have been naming their favoured contestants using the hashtag #euroapuestas. From that RTVE concluded that the fan favourites to sing at Eurovision 2016 are Raúl Gómez, Xuso Jones, Maverick, Jorge González and Brequette — who lost to Ruth Lorenzo back in 2014 with a stellar performance of “Más”. The state broadcaster has emphasized that the selected lot is very talented and represent a variety of genres within Spain. Our hopes are high — and we pray they are met!

Brequette at Mira quien va a Eurovision 2014 – Spain’s National Selection

#eurodrama is coming at you. RTVE also announced that in January a series of online programs will introduce us to all six hopefuls. We’re going behind the scenes and into their lives, all in the name of creating some much-needed hype for the contest. We’ll def be tuning in.

Are you excited to finally know all six acts? Who do you think is going to make the cut? Let us know in the comments box below!

Never got the Brequette hype – poor song, poor performance.

I hope they present us with some nice guitar-y songs or perhaps some Spanish electro-pop?

Either way, it’s high time Spain cracked the top 5 again!

@ David, where did you get that idea from that I’m claiming anything? If you don’t like my comments, just ignore them. Please stop bothering others, thank you.
And yes, everybody (it’s just a way of saying) in Spain is talking about Sara Serena’s wish to take parte.

Two names are partially confirmed: XUSO JONES and MAVERICK (I prefer the first one). Also MARÍA ISABEL, the JESC 2004, winner is strongly rumoured (her last lives are really bad and I don’t like her music style and songs). Other names are the group Amelie (Softengine, A Friend in London alike), Eva Ruiz (I didn’t even know her…), Raul Gómez and Sara Serena (these two are my favourites between them). While I have to listen their songs which is the most important thing here (and nobody is formally confirmed), my favourites are Raul Gómez, Sara Serena and Amelie.

@Iberian, can you please stop talking as if you know the opinion of all spanish eurofans?

Just a group of people is talking about Sara Serena, and some people wants Ruth back to Eurovision

Most of us pray so that Ruth NEVER EVER comes back to Eurovision. She had her chance, now let others have a try.

It’s weird that this article doesn’t even mention Sara Serena, when everybody in Spain is talking about her possible participation.
