Hello, it’s me…were the first words Filipa Azevedo sang last night during the first live show of “The Voice Portugal”. By the end of the night she was singing: Hello from the outside…

Yes, in a shocking and unexpected turn of events, Portugal’s Eurovision 2010 singer has had her dreams crushed on live television. Despite an ocean of hype and the love of Eurofans driving her forward, Filipa was eliminated from “The Voice Portugal”. Before her performance of Adele’s “Hello”, she revealed that her good luck charms are the shoes she wore to Eurovision. Sad face.

We gotta be honest. She was not perfect and the Portuguese audience simply wasn’t compelled to vote for her. Her mentor Anselmo Ralph had the opportunity to save her later in the show but elected to let her go.

It’s a sad night for a young girl keen on rebuilding her career. During her many years in exile, she worked as a shopkeeper and recently found the strength to let that life go. We hope she’ll keep on going. Honey: we’re always here for you!

@Pedro: You can but only speak for yourself … sadly there are many who came to me still using their 2010 rage anti-ballad bs to express how happy they were with her elimination … So there you have it: there are people like you who learn to see things differently without wanting Portugal to follow Greece’s cheesy musical footsteps with a pink dress … and there are people who still dream of that pink dress and still want uptempo crap to represent Portugal at Eurovision. So I am afraid not everyone has honestly accepted the 2010 outcome and made this… Read more »

Somewhat agree with what Charles is saying, although from what I’ve seen from the online videos she was pretty strong throughout the whole song. Just caught a missed tempo really, there were some questionable progressions in there but it was a just a matter trying to put her on twist on the song, she was always on tune. There is just not much to the song, very linear, not enough to really showcase a singer. Listening to Adele sing it live without a full band behind her, honestly I get even more convinced on what a solid performance Filipa pulled.… Read more »

@Charles! About what you said in a), oh my god, for God save! Do you really think that portuguese fans are still mad with Filipa’s victory in 2010?? Ahahah no, trust me, we are not! We were, yes, but after everything she gave in Oslo all eurofans here felt in love with her! Trust me, everybody (including eurofans and more people) are really sad and mad with her elimination

There are 3 things worth my comment: a) I can clearly see all those ESC fans at Campo Pequeno in 2010 who made such an angry fuzz due to Filipa’s winning instead of Catarina (the anti-ballad and the pro-pop-uptempo-crap debacle) now enjoying her elimination at this show … it’s like a revenge thing. b) Anselmo Ralph has a favourite contestant in his team … and when I saw the show I could clearly see who that performer is … therefore Filipa would be eliminated sooner or later without Anselmo’s support. c) Singing “Hello” has proven to be a bullet you… Read more »

Ok tbh the verses weren’t great but she was strong for the chorus. Shame, hard for her to sing in an other language besides her native Portugese.????

Honestly, she is amazing. And honestly, she did amazing. This song is really difficult and even Adele has struggled a lot to sing it live.
I think here the crucial mistake was Filipa mentor choice… With Aurea it would be a different story, i am totally sure.

Bad song choice. She should have chosen Aurea for to be her mentor.
Please don’t give up Filipa!

I have a suggestion for RTP, when you return to Eurovision, do not use Festival da cancao, there are good songs who win, but they do bad in ESC, I think RTP should at least try internal selection. Maybe Katia Aveiro or Catarina Pereira

I think that is important as well to mention the big controversy that her elimination cause here in Portugal! This first live show was full of mistakes and people are too much disapointed! In the facebook page there are HUNDREADS of comments saying that it was a shock her elimination, not only because of the televoting (you know how televoting works here, don’t you?) but also because of Anselmo Ralph’s decision! Trust me, after all this, the TV show will lose too much audience.. Is too much sad what RTP did to Filipa after all she gave back in 2010…… Read more »
