Danish broadcaster DR were supposed to reveal the the ten Dansk Melodi Grand Prix finalists and their songs in just under three weeks’ time, on January 28. But in a serious case of deja vu, all the entries have been leaked online. In 2015 they shipped the official DMGP CD too early, this time they’ve published the tracks on Spotify. Superstar producer and DMGP supervisor Cutfather must be fit to cut a b…!

Currently, only users in the Nordics can access them via the streaming service. Thankfully, they’re kind souls and they’ve shared all the details with the rest of us. Many of the entries are already appearing on YouTube, but we suspect it’s only a matter of time before they get deleted, so listen now while you have the chance.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016 finalists

  1. David Jay “Rays of Sunlight”
  2. Simone “Heart Shaped Hole”
  3. Muri & Mario “To Stjerner”
  4. Sophia Nohr “Blue Horizon”
  5. Veronicas Illusion “The Wrong Kind”
  6. Lighthouse X “Soldiers of Love”
  7. Kristel Lisberg “Who Needs A Heart”
  8. Jessica “Break it Good”
  9. Bracelet “Breakaway”
  10. Anja Nissen “Never Alone”

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016 finalists

The stand out name has to be Anja Nissen. She won the third series of The Voice of Australia, and famously passed over “My Girls” — the Delta Goodrem penned song which was ultimately sung by Australia’s Bella Paige at Junior Eurovision 2015. She’s already won over the Aussies, but can she win over the birthplace of her parents? She’s certainly arriving with a bang.

Veronica´s Illusion or Simone tbh, most of the songs suck this year..i was expecting a LOT more from Denmark this year, most songs are Mediocre to say the least

The fact that Anja is competing for Denmark should indicate that Australia is going to have a major entrant for Eurovision. On the one hand she could get Denmark twelve points from Down Under?

@Alexander maybe just international fanbase expansion. They’ve done it with XFactor Aus & Idol singers before. Eg. Dami Im (South Korea), Jessica Mauboy (Indonesia), Marlisa (Philippines) & Stan Walker (New Zealand)

@Mar I like that song as well but the statement of them not liking their languages it’s 100% fake.

DMGP 2015: Tæt på mine drømme (3rd place)
Melfest 2015: Jag är fri (2nd place)
Iceland 2015: Piltur og stúlka (4th place)
Finland 2015: Aina mun pitää (winner)
Norway 2015: En godt stekt pizza (3rd place)

They do love their languages, I do as well, and I hope they send this song to ESC but before saying that kind of stuff you should check the sources.

Interesting that Anja has seemingly left Australia behind; a bit infamous for having won The Voice, announced her debut single as the Delta Goodrem-penned ‘My Girls’ and then just dropped it (of course, great to have Bella Paige take it to Sofia last year!)

Simone sounds like a possible ESC-winner for me actually. Love it, even though I hear Sia’s Chandelier…;)

To Stjerner is my favourite! But I know it will most likely be bottom three because it’s the only song in danish (I wonder why scandinavians don’t like their own languages?)
I think Anja will be very popular with the danes, she’s like a reverse Crown Princess Mary after all, and her song is typical Eurovision. “Never Alone” reminds me a lot of “Straight into love” from Slovenia 2013.

Not excited by any of them but “Heart Shaped Hole” and “Blue Horizon” offer the right kind of vibe. They’re not cheesy, they’re contemporary and have a different opinion from the rest of the “typical pop songs”

Anja’s song and melody stand out most for me among the bunch. However, we need them to hear them all live with staging, if history is any indication! Anyway, my fav of all the potential ESC songs so far remains Rykka (Switzerland) with “Last of our kind”!

‘Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken’? That’s straight from What’s Love Got to Do With It.

No real standouts, for me. I really don’t like the song by the Australian Voice winner, way too predictable.

I only like Muri & Mario’s song, which is the top candidate for the 10th place :'(
I always have big expectations on Denmark, but this disappoints me.

Not much variety, way too much pop here. Anja will probably win. I’d guess 8th to 12th place if it does.

Some good songs there, but nothing that could bring Denmark its third win on Swedish soil.
I’d go with Simone I guess.

Thanks to a good soul, I’ve got all of the songs (since I live in Croatia). Better songs than last year, but it could’ve been better. The best choices IMO are Anja, Simone and Kristel.

After we hear all songs, we know Denmark don t have chance to win in Sweden like 2013.
Weak national final like in 2015. They had best song in national final in period from 2010 to 2014 and they have best stage in national final in that period.

My favorite country of them all, NF wise. 🙂 Last year they were somehow off-key, but I hope that this year they will be back as strong as ever (but please don’t win Denmark, please DON’T!) LOL David Jay “Rays of Sunlight” – nice tune. Radio-friendly song (as them all, I suppose). Not a winner, though. Simone “Heart Shaped Hole” – the last time Simone went up agains Emilie back in 2013, had a better song. This one is weak. Muri & Mario “To Stjerner” – I can’t escape that tune within the tune between the lyrics. Hahaha… But everything… Read more »

“Thankfully, they’re kind souls and they’ve shared all the details with the rest of us. Many of the entries are already appearing on YouTube.”

I’m working on it, but the songs keep getting blocked when I re-upload them, currently working on some alternatives, so people can have a listen to them all.
This site at least works in case: http://www.dailymotion.com/user/UnknownDavid/1

Working as fast as possible to get them all up
