Earlier this morning Swedish broadcaster SVT revealed the running order of the four Melodifestivalen semi-finals, which kick off in Gothenburg on February 6. While running order isn’t quite the difference between winning or not, the producer-determined running order still has an influence on the show, and is thought to indicate which songs are likely to be the favourites.

Molly Sandén, the bookies’ favourite to win, will close the semi-finals: She performs last in the fourth semi-final in Gävle (we wonder how many times she’s been there). Ace Wilder, who the bookies consider Molly’s closest rival, will semi-final 1 in Gothenburg (the same city where she made her Melfest debut back in 2014).

Producer Christer Björkman presented the acts on Periscope using a series of coloured sticky notes: Acts in hot pink denoted high energy, purple was schlager, yellow was mid-tempo pop. Based on that we now know, among other things, that Anna Book, Krista Siegfrids, After Dark and Linda Bengtzeng will go schlager; that Mimi Werner, Molly Pettersson Hammar, Ace Wilder, Wiktoria and SaRaha will go dance; and that Isa, Oscar Zia, Pernilla Andersson and Robin B will drop mid-tempo pop. Interestingly, Lisa Ajax’s card was light pink, symbolising a mid-tempo pop song with a character so unique she got her own colour.

Danny Saucedo is Molly’s fiancé, not just boyfriend. 😀
Anyway. I want Molly to win… Ace can try it few times again, but Molly tried soso many times and she deserves the victory like no one else this year in MF.

What does green mean? Rap?
Also are the stars in red and blue mean anything? His favorites?

F**k the running order!

IT’S MELFEST 2016! AHHHH!

Krista’s playing 5th in her semi and Linda’s (Queen of Schlager) doing 4th in hers… And they’re both doing schlager…

I’m a little concerned.

But there are not bad acts here. Hope ans pray they all do well.

They want to win Molly . In past we had many time who sing last in 4 semifinal, he won the final. Only in 2012 we had who had sing last in 1 semifinal won the final. Maybe this year wili be Ace Wilder like Loreen in 2012.

Again the formula repeats itself … The biggest expectations created before the competition even begin places itself at the right spot to generate even more buzz … Molly Sanden and Ace Wilder … nothing new … Hopefully Mollys song is worthy is ears … as Wilder will go down the Icona Pop route with the face and attitude of Avril Lavigne …

Basically what Christer said is that the traditional schlager songs is in the middle. songs 3-5. At least one of the songs in each heat is the schlager one. The first and the last songs are chosen cause they are big spectacular entries to make it interesting.

@Olly you’re right, I don’t know why I was so sure he performed last… But yeah. Still there was somebody last year that went last and didn’t go through, right? Saade, Mariette, Måns and…
Jon Henrik? Was he last? If so, then my whole theory lies dead. Still, that’s weird since she’s a pretty big unknown.

I feel like semi-final 2 is the strongest.

@gbg I pretty certain that Midnight Boy had start position #1 in his semi-final, but I see what you mean. Apparently this makes the show more exciting and not so unpredictable in terms of having the favourite always ending the show. Maybe we’re looking at the next “Ace Wilder” of 2016 (un-known, blonde woman with a confident up-tempo song in English)?

And what’s the deal with giving Wiktoria 7th position? It’s either that she’s really good, OR, more possibly, to make sure not all acts performing as 7th make it to the Final (like they did with Midnight Boy last year).

The 2nd semi is going to be a bloodbath. David, Isa, MPH, Krista -> that means we’re going to have a particularly good Andra Chansen this year. Well, I’m saying that without really knowing any of the songs, but these are big names (with the exception of MPH, but she will bring it on). If anyone is to fall behind I’m guessing it would be Krista. Although I wish her all the best!

Christer said that the orange colour represented high-tempo songs, but not necessarily all of them have to be pop songs. Patrick, Uno & Tommy will most likely do a Swedish mid-tempo country ballad, so this corresponds to the orange colour. Generally, all the orange songs have the same “feeling” you get from them. Hope that makes sense. 🙂

Jerome and William: Lisa Ajax light pink color symbolized a midtempo pop song of a unique kind this year, and that’s why she is alone with that color

@Jerome: Lisa Ajax was light pink, but not hot pink (like all others). Not sure what it means

I watched the announcement on Periscope and I could not understand a word so I had to ask what the different colour notes meant. I was told:
Yellow: mid tempo pop
Green: guys
Pink: high energy
Purple: schlager
Orange: ?? (was not told)
For those who watched it, what colour was Lisa Ajax? It seemed to be a brighter shade of purple. But is that her type of song?

Christer also revealed that the reasons he put Molly last is because he wants the viewers to stay put on their seat through the whole show.
Ace, Wiktoria, Oscar and Molly got these opportunities.

Who else reckons they will have Molly Sanden sing last?
