It’s been two months since Bulgaria confirmed its long-awaited return to Eurovision, but we’re still waiting for BNT to reveal its artist. Thankfully sources close to BNT, the Bulgarian national broadcaster, have told wiwibloggs that it has narrowed its list of potential artists to three: Preslava, Poli Genova, and the to-be-determined winner of the X Factor Bulgaria. Scroll down to learn more…
Preslava is one of Bulgaria’s biggest and most appreciated stars and fans have been dying for her to represent the country for ages. The 31-year-old starlet has a predilection for Bulgarian pop-folk, which is rather unknown to Eurovision fans, and that would definitely help her stand out. And did we mention how gorgeous she is?
In a recent poll conducted by our friends at Eurovision-bg, Preslava was named fan favourite to represent Bulgaria in Stockholm next May with an impressive 5,494 votes — or nearly 14% of all those cast. Maybe BNT should listen to the fans…
Do we really need to introduce her? Bulgaria’s representative from 2011 and this year’s Junior Eurovision host is also considered as a potential pick for Stockholm. Many Eurovision fans recall her outrageous non-qualification in Düsseldorf and demand vengeance. We met Poli last November in Sofia and she strongly hinted at a Eurovision return. We are hoping that happens — and soon!
In the same eurovision-bg poll, Poli emerged as the people’s third favourite to fly the Bulgarian flag in Stockholm with a total of 5,092 votes, or around 12%. It was close at the top!
X-FACTOR BULGARIA WINNER
The name of the third choice is still unknown. That’s because BNT will consider using the winner of the X Factor Bulgaria. Five contestants are still battling for the X Factor crown with only two weeks left before the final. Twenty-five-year-old Christiana Loizou is the heavy favourite. The Cypriot-born singer moved to Bulgaria to pursue her education and eventually decided to focus on opera. Move over, Malena Ernman!
The show is still in progress, but Christiana still managed to place fourth in the poll with 4,956 votes (12.26%) and loads of encouraging comments.
So, what do you think of these three potential representatives? Do you think they can take Bulgaria to the final? Let us know in the comments section below!
