Buenos dias, chicos! The sun is shining in Iberia — and RTVE is bringing even more heat with its latest Eurovision news. After announcing the six acts that will compete for a ticket to Globe Arena in Stockholm earlier this month, RTVE is now letting us know how they’ll choose their Eurostar for 2016.
Yesterday RTVE’s entertainment director Toñi Prieto and Spain’s head of delegation Federico Llano announced that the national final will utilise an international jury during its national selection show. But don’t worry: RTVE is not eliminating the televote — Power to the people, y’all!
RTVE knows that Spain is still on the road to economic recovery and that youth unemployment is high. So it will make an effort to reduce the cost of SMS voting so everyone can join in on the fun and help decide its fate during the first week of February. We’re almost there!
Toñi and Federico believe the six hopefuls will bring their A-game on the big night and that Spaniards will struggle to decide on their winner. They are also extremely confident that 2016 is Spain’s year to win. Talk about setting expectations high…
Xuso Jones, Salvador Beltrán, Maverick, María Isabel, Electric Nana and Barei will compete for the coveted ticket to Eurovision. Which one is your favorite? You can review some of their latest music below and let us know in the comments box that follows. Please note: These are not their Eurovision songs. Those will follow soon…
Barei to Eurovision!!!! Electric Nana is my second favorite and Xuso third! Let’s wait for the songs…
I agree with William. Spain is not going to win just copying the american (or english) sound and singing it in spanish. They need to bring something refreshing, passionate and original.
I always like the idea of international juries.
Maria Isabel you can do it!
So Maria Isabel is going to attempt joining the Eurovision! I’m wishing her the best of luck! I hope she wins the Spanish National Finals. I really would love to see her at the Eurovision again and I think her recent music says that she would slay the Eurovision if given the chance.
EVERY year is Spain’s year to win. Just like last year with that awful song that was supposedly going to win by a landslide.
Spain’s last good entry was 2012. I’m not really feeling anything as good from any of these. Also, after the whole debacle in 2014 (and that was a bilingual song), I’m not sure the English-language songs will be going anywhere.
come on Spain get us a big 5 win
If they’re saying it’s Spain’s year to win, the UK and France have undergone their selection changes, Italy’s San Remo looks as strong as ever and Germany’s looking good with their NS, I think it could be very well true the Big 5 score another victory.
The six of them are very talented.
*but
Dont know why buy i think in the next few years spain will -finally- win eurovision…
