Today the Norwegian broadcaster NRK revealed the 10 artists taking part in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix. February 27 will be a busy day, as along with Slovenia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania and Moldova, Norway will also select their entry on this Super Saturday. The final will be hosted by Silya Nymoen and Kåre Magnus Bergh.
Among the ten competing artists are boyband Suite 16, Norway’s Got Talent winner Stine Hole Ulla and Agnete, who took part in Melodi Grand Prix 2011 with her band The BlackSheeps. Together with the list of artists, NRK also gave us 15-second clips of all the competing songs, which you can listen to here. The full songs are due to be released within the next two weeks.

Who do you want to see representing Norway in Stockholm? Let us know in the comments!
Afterglow sounds amazing.
Looking forward to hearing all the songs 🙂 So far its Laila that is my big favorite of the lot – sounds like something really different that will stand out in Eurovision 🙂 Not sure about Agnetes song as her song supposedly has a change in rythm during the song so I am afraid we are having another San Marino 2013 or Serbia 2015 … i dont really like these songs taht change pace midway through the song… Suite 16 sounds fun. I like them from before. I think their work is just as good as anything One Direction has… Read more »
good snippets
I like Agnete, Laila, Pegasus, Makeda, Elouiz, and Stage Dolls.
Laika and Icebreaker for the win!!!
My top 2 for sure, can’t wait for the full songs 🙂
Someone must have noticed the obvious double entendre of the lyrics, “don’t come with me, oh come on Anna Lee”. Surely someone is having a laugh.
Laila or Agnete probably.
Seems like a pretty weak NF though.
I like Makeda the best. Her song reminds me of Destiny’s “Not my Soul.” I approve!
I wanna stick to the live versions instead. Thank you.
I know you can’t really judge from such a small snippet, but last year’s MGP songs seem to be better. On the snippets alone, Agnete is miles ahead of the rest.
To put it bluntly: gays are good, but islam is bad.
What I mean is that you need to know that there are problems, but you need to know EXACTLY where they are. If you think that everything is good you will not work, but if you think that everything is bad, you will not work also. Although this second is probably worse.
It is easy to get lost doing something by force. Finally, somewhere had to take the saying: “jump out of the frying pan and into the fire”.
I will not develop the theme of violence in this forum, but this problem really exists in reality.
There are many people in this world for whom everything is good and people for whom everything is bad. I try to break out of this mental companies. Here is a lot of things in life, which are good, but also here are things, which are not good. Probably here is more earlier mentioned things, but here is also at least one big bad thing. It’s about some brutality. I do not like violence.
Eurovision Song Contest is very big and interesting contest and I will be always a big fan of this occurrence. Please believe me. That’s why I registered here. Let’s start all over again, because it’s time for a great new start.
Health + wealth + security + good entries and results at the ESC = full prosperity.
Of course Sweden is also not perfect country overall, but if they can present themselves well in the ESC, so I think Norway also can improve here. It is also important not to spoil what they already have good. The point is not to change one possesion to another, but to fight for it all. Do not change, only add.
From the snippets, probably only Afterglow. What’s happened? Was A Monster Like Me where Norway peaked?
Why is every song in English?? All the other Nordic countries have some or all songs in their native language…no, not Norway. Sad. Why???
Laila looks so much like Simone from Denmark its unreal.
Anwyays, I like Laila and Agnete but im getting DMGP 2015 vibes this year
though not as bad.
I reserve judgement before the snippets as last year I was just as unimpressed but then ending up prasing the selection immensley so I’m holding out hope.
One word: Agnete.
One more thing to be clear. All previous my comments are NOT my final opinion in 100%. Most important will be stage presentation of performances, BUT it is good to be able to predict what will be good and what will be not good. So now I give very little chance of Norway for success in Stockholm.
From what I’ve heard I like 1,4,5,7,8 and 10
“Icebreaker” sounds great! “Ann Lee” sounds very Vamps-like.
None of them are exciting me so far, but the full songs might change that. I hope. Possibly. Theoretically.
Laila and Agnete seems to be the best
this is really not the year for the Nordic countries though
Songvakeppnin, DMGP, and MGP all lacking songs that could qualify
UMK not having anyone that can flat out win the contest
Sweden is hosting so they’re practically out of the race
rough…
afterglow hands down
that voiceeeeeeee
Laila or Agnete. The rest sounds dreadful!
What’s happening with Norway?!
aferglow or icebreaker. hands down!!!
Suite 16 or Agnete
More room for Mikael Saari/Saara Aalto to slay in Stockholm
The Hungry Hearts feat. Lisa Dillan with “Laika” !!!! for the win
i kinda like suite 16,stine hole, laila, agnete and the hungry hearts xD
I have to give credit to Freddy Kalas for having the only EDM song we’ve heard so far that actually sounds like current EDM and not stuff from 5 years ago.
I don’t care about any of these, but if I had to make a bet on any of them, I’d probably bet that Agnete will be winning.
Ah, One of my fav esc-nations: Norway 🙂 Although the snippets are extremely short, it gives an idea of the whole song. Last year, i couldn’t wait to hear songs in their full length, this year…im disappointed. They all sound pretty weak to me. For now i only liked Elouiz, Stine Hole Ulla and Makeda.
Quite disappointed with our selections this year especially as I got tickets to the NF! Agnete seems like the stand-out pick for me, don’t get the hype for Laila. We’ll see when they release the full songs though
Very disappointing considering they have had good songs every year since 2005.
so we arent in scandinavia in 2017 unless sweden send a killer song
Laila is incredibly similar with Simone from DMGP, imagine if both win their national finals LOL
Laila or Hungry Hearts ,the rest of the songs are terrible lol
What the heck!! It’s the weakest year after 2012 🙁 I can named all my second favourite to win in 2013-2015, but this year no song deserves the trophy except Agnette – Icebreakers. Just send her, and Norway will survive pass the semifinal
Laila with ”Afterglow” is the standout, but there are others that are very good as well.
Overral very good selection, Norway never disappoints!
“Happy Rush”, “Afterglow”, “Laika” and “Icebreaker” are going to be my favourites, I guess 😀
I’m really looking forward to the full version of “Laika”, it sounds so epic xD
Don’t see any of these making the Top 10… Not much quality.
1. LAILA SAMUELS WITH “AFTERGLOW”
2. SUITE 16 WITH “ANNA LEE” (One Direction, Auryn, Denmark 2015 wannabe)
3. AGNETE WITH “ICEBREAKER”
After three years of masterpieces, it seems Norway’s run out of good songs. I think only Laila and Agnete have a chance of qualifying, but I do really like Hungry Hearts too, it’s giving me Robyn-vibes.
SUITE 16 SUITE 16 SUITE16 AAAAAAHHHH THEIR SOO HOT OMG OMG!!
Norway has to cancel Melodi Grand Prix 2016 because none of these songs are presented sufficient quality for ESC. They need completely different quality.
Do you feel the situation? Eurovision Song Contest is the biggest music contest on earth with hundreds of millions viewers. And Norway will send for this great event some weak, trivial crap. In this way Norway become similar to Latvia with “Cake To Bake”, “Here We Go” or “Beautiful Song”. Do they really can’t afford one good, polished entry in year?
Laila Samuels really stands out! The best by far
