¡Buenos días, España! As you might know, everything that has a beginning has an end, and another Spanish songs #Eurodrama is (almost) off: the 30-second snippets are finally out! After the official announcement made by RTVE on its official page yesterday, the public broadcaster revealed a short teaser of each of the six acts that will try to wave the flag in Stockholm.
However, for any Spaniard out there, another drama is on, as we all have to wait for the full songs nothing less than… just one day, as they’ll be revealed tomorrow, Wednesday 19 January at 17:00 CET. Moreover, the national selection, called Objetivo Eurovisión will take place on February 1 at 22:30 CET. Take a look at them snippets!
BAREI – “SAY YAY!”
ELECTRIC NANA – “NOW”
XUSO JONES – “VICTORIOUS”
MARÍA ISABEL – “LA VIDA SÓLO ES UNA”
The full song is already out.
MAVERICK – “UN MUNDO MÁS FELIZ”
SALVADOR BELTRÁN – “DÍAS DE ALEGRÍA”
After seeing Edurne place 21st with “Amanecer” last year in Vienna, it looks like there has been some movement around RTVE’s offices to try and find the perfect formula to take Spain back to Eurovision glory. Going back to a national selection, with an international jury and televote to pick the chosen one, and having the song snippets and the full versions out on the webpage (with an odd scheduling, nevertheless) is one step forward to make the process slightly more democratic, but there’s still a long way to go.
We had a bit of a tease now, but did any of the snippets get your attention? Do you feel like you’ve found your favourite one to lead Spain back to victory? Let us know in the comments below!
Two (2) words – María Isabel ???????? 🙂
In my opinion, Maverick and Salvador’s entries are “too Spanish” for ESC.
Xuso’s entry is mere imitation of Ryan Dolan’s “Only Love Survives”.
Electric Nana is okay, but kind of weak.
I believe best choices are Barei and Maria Isabel.
However, none of them is strong enough to win ESC, although they might reach top 10.
1.Barei
2.Maria Isabel
3.Xuso Jones
4.Meverick
5.Electric Nana
6.Salvador Beltran
I’m loving Maverick, Salvador and Maria Isabel. I’m almost sure they won’t win (maybe Maria Isabel could have a shot) they don’t seem to be popular from what I’m seeing here 😛 But I’m loving their songs nonetheless. I’m kinda hoping Spain to send something more like this, more spanish/latin sound, even if its outdated, but at least its different from anything from any other country, the others are just so incredibly generic they will surely get lost among the other generic pop songs.
One thing is sure though, at the very least, Spain won’t send another ballad!
I REALLY like Maria’s song, it’s very upbeat and fun. I think the live performance will determine wheher or not she wins though. The other entries aren’t doing much for me, so I hope Maria can pull it off!
NO ONE
Wow the male soloists’ song entries are definitely stronger than the girls!! Disappointed with Maria Isabel’s song…but hey good promo for her for compete.
I’m really dissapointed with some comments. Firstly, my favourite songs and artists are Xuso, Electric Nana, and Barei, and yes, all of them are going to sing in English at Stockolm. I’m Spanish and I want to see my country with an international song, and I can’t stand people who say that we should keep singing in Spanish and promote our culture, but what about the other countries?? Also, comments like: Victorious is like Glorious and other songs composed by Swedish.. But you vote for songs like Euphoria, Heroes, Only Teardrops…and then we send Quédate Conmigo sung by Pastora in… Read more »
Dear Spain, this year and more than ever, you are THE WEAKEST LINK. Quite upsetting since Spain has had some decent songs to offer in their national finals, like Brequette’s song a couple of years back. Maybe 2017.
@candycam with such title and such song europe will say go home. In case she wins #notevenclose
Europe “Say Yay” to Barei 🙂
I’ll be happy as long as it’s a Spanish song.
But Maria Isabel convinced me the most.
Say yay and victorious are my favourites but I wouldn’t mind if any of the songs were chosen, they’re all half decent.
Don’t tell me this is actually happening..
I was waiting the whole fricking day for the article on wiwibloggs with the snippets and I literally just missed it the entire time.
I think it is between the girls.
I am supporting Xuso and Maria, any of them and I am happy. A duet? Even better lol. Fingers crossed for Madrid 2017
I’m a native English speaker, but I am also Hispanic. The English songs are pretty good but I have to admit I would be upset if they sent an English song. The Spanish language is one of the universal languages and Spain unofficially represents all Hidpanics. I hope Maria Isabel wins as it has both the language and the song. Spain shouldn’t send a song to try to please non Spanish speakers or to simply “win” the contest. They should send a song based on their own culture and liking whatever that may be.
1) Barei – Spain would be fools not to send this! AMAZING
2) María Isabel – Very good, but Barei is much better
3) Xuso Jones – Actually quite like it
4) Electric Nana – only the chorus was interesting
5/6) Maverick and Slavador – equally bad
Overall I guess Spain will be pushing really hard this year and I suspect a victory if they do choose Barei. 🙂
@ marie: you expressed my sentiments exactly over the issue of language. Thanks for that! 😀
Nothing special about the English songs, really. It’s very atypical pop or pop/rock. Send Maria Isablel! So danceable and fun, and so Spanish! Don’t give into the pressure to send boring English songs! (<–native speaker of English)
1. BAREI
MADRID 2017!!
Judging by these snippets Barei and Electric Nana are most interesting
Electric nana’s song did remind me of Belgium’s Tom and Finland’s Barbe-q-barbies together…. liked it though
All of them are really good. To make a real judgement we need the full song but at the moment any of them can go to Eurovision and I’ll be just fine
I like Barei and Maria Isabel. I just hope Maria can pull it off live
@Marie
Then you have the national final when Spain will chose our contestant for this year. If your answer to my reply is that, I truly believe you didn’t understand what I said. From the snippets Barei’s song seems quite good (waiting for The full version) and really annoys me when somebody says that an spanish entry sung in english it’s a “NO” because it’s not In spanish (that’s really stupid). I’m searching for a good song and from this bunch the songs in spanish (specially Salvador and Maverick) are the weakest…
I think they have a good thing going there with these songs. Some contemporary electro-pop choices and some latin summer Kendji Girac type of hits.
From these snippets, Xuso is definitely the weakest of the pack. His song sounds like some Melodifestivalen reject.
@DiamonDollar97xx I really hate coments like “Spain should be loyal to their beautiful native language”. Don’t know why Spain can change that for one year, not only to Show Europe what can we do, if RTVE have finally chosen these artists (Nana and Barei especially) that write their songs in english and it’s a step forward what we’ve sent during these years. Since Molitva In 2007 nobody who have sang In their native language have son ESC. If you Want to see a contest where everybody sing In their language then ESC should propose it as a theme, but At… Read more »
Really hope Salvador wins Spain needs to send something upbeat and distinctly Spainish!
1. Barei
2. Electric Nana
3. Xuso Jones
4. María Isabel
5. Salvador Beltrán
6. Maverick
My big fat NO belongs to all English songs… Im not saying they’re bad… But I thunk, Spain should be loyal to their beautiful native language…
From the rest of the songs I would like to see Maria Isabel in Stockholm… She should warm up the cold Stockholm’s stage.
But in general.. All of the contestants are pretty good (only Electric Nana is awful) Thumbs up Spain…
Im not really surprised by the selection, though i think its decent. Personally i like Maria Isabel’s song, but not sure if it would be the best choice. I think Maverick ( to my ears this souns so spanish, so summerish, love it) or Barei (sounds good and fun) would be the best choice based on the snippets. PLease dont send Victorious. Its a song i will enjoy on my iPod, but sending that song will give Spain a preditacle result.
@MissUncongeniality I mean money as commercial interests and musical business such as company’s self promotion more than purely richness, but that you say is a good thing to know too 🙂
@Howyoudoing if tour money theory is true you should not eliminate Barei because, OK she doesnt has the record label behind her. But she is part of one of the billionaire families in Spain… The Reyzabal family
Based on the snippets, let’s see if it changes tomorrow!
1 – Electric Nana
2- Barei
3- Salvador Beltrán
4- Xuso Jones
5- Maverick
6- María Isabel
¡Vamos España, el año es vuestro! Besos desde Irlanda xxx
Xuso Jones belongs to Universal Music and Maria Isabel has an album to promote. Money is always money so I would put them both at the front of competition. Barei has no company behind her so I don’t honestly believe in her chances at least her song was EXTREMELY good, thing that I dont think so. Salvador and Maverick would not have too much chances because their songs are weaker. And depending on how good Electric Nana’s song is, she could be a dark horse and may join Xuso and Maria Isabel as potential winner, but being honest these things… Read more »
Based on the snippets, et’s see if ti changes tomorrow!
1 – Electric Nana

1º MARIA ISABEL
2ºSEBASTIAN BELTRAN
3ºXUSO JONES
4ºBAREI
5ºELECTRIC NANA
6ºMAVERICK
Let’s see what happens. Right now it is a close race between Xuso and the three ladies, even though Salvador’s snippet doesn’t bother me. I’m not into Maverick’s at all. Let’s wait for the full songs.
Please check my blogs with rankings. Cheers from Latin America!

Barei-Say Hey = Christina Aguilera – Your Body
is barei’s song actually called ‘Say Yay’
seriously
I changed my mind, switch 2nd and 4th
1. Barei
2. Xuso Jones
3. Salvador Betràn
4. Maria Isabel
5. Maverick
6. Electric Nana
I really like the girls, their songs sound very promising.
Not feeling the guys… Xuso’s melodi is Glorious 2.0
Barei – Say yay! ???
Sounds so good.
This is a great selection, really! 🙂
Give me some Spanish flavor, España!!! 🙂
Whoever wins between Maria Isabel, Maverick & Salvador Beltran is fine with me. I’ll go with Maverick, though.
Good job Spain!
Not good song, I think Spain with these songs , don t have chance to be in TOP 10 in final.
Only good song after snippet is Electric Nana
Barei would be a perfect song for 2003. Now is dated and if it goes to eurovision (not gonna happen start crying) will be among 20-26. The game is between maria isabel and xuso jones. In general there arent very bad songs
Liked Barei + Electric Nana, the rest were a bit meh to me….although might change with the full songs!
Alberto, that’s her accent lol, you should know that better than anyone since you seem to be as spanish as I am.
It HAS to be Maria Isabel
1) Maria Isabel
2) Barei (I’m pretty sure this surprised everyone lol)
3) Electric Nana
4) Xuso (Feels super generic to me)
5) Salva
6) Maverick
