Highs and lows, drama and laughter, we witnessed it all during the first heat of Hungary’s A Dal 2016. Central Europe’s premier Eurovision selection show kicked off this evening, with ten of the 30 acts taking to the stage. However, only six could make it through to the semifinal. Y’all will be glad to know that your poll topper Freddie was amongst the lucky half-dozen. You can check out the full list below.
A Dal 2016 Heat One: Qualifiers
- Freddie – Pioneer 42 points
- Benji – Kötéltánc 39 points
- Mushu – 36 points
- Egy Másik Zenekar – 36 points
- Reni Tolvai – 35 points
- ByTheWay – 31 points (saved by televoters)
A Dal 2016 Heat One: Eliminated Acts
- Jázmin Török – 35 points
- Odett – Stardust – 34 points
- Petra Veres-Kovács – 32 points
- Fatima – 30 points
Tonight’s result was determined by a mixture of the new-look jury and public votes. An initial round of voting determined the first five qualifiers. This included both jury and viewer scores. The sixth semifinalist was chosen during a second round of 100% public voting.
After all the acts performed, we were treated to a set from Viktor Király. The former A Dal star is back in Hungary after his stint on the American edition of The Voice.
Since their 2011 comeback, Hungary has reached the Eurovision grand final every time. Kati Wolf, Compact Disco, ByeAlex, Kállay-Saunders and Boggie all made it. This year the country wants to send a winner. Did we see one tonight?
What do you think of the result? Did your favourites qualify? Let us know below.
Jasmin won’t be happy. She didn’t deserve to be knocked out, and to be knocked out in that way… :/
You’ll read much Freddie love on my comments here and on my social media accounts. I’m sorry 😀 I want him to win Eurovision so badly! I got hooked on “Pioneer” since the day it was released. Freddie has it all in my opinion. Nothing would make happier than witnessing his triumph in Eurovision :3
Winner alert for Freddie – apparently there is competition for Kallay. I can see this doing very well in Stockholm !
Freddie was awesome!
Freddie, Tolvai & ByTheWay are all in my top 4 songs in Hungary so was really happy to see them all through!
you forget odett to mention 🙂
Kállay Saunders Band – Who We Are looks like clear winner if the rest of hungarian selections will be similar.
Hungary made a very good show. Yes, perhaps we have already seen the winner.
I think Freddie can reach the Top 5 at Eurovision, I really hope he wins.
Hungarian selections are the worst sadism
