“The Next Star For Eurovision 2016”, the singing reality show that will choose Israel’s representative for Eurovision, continued auditions this week. It was the next-to-last set of shows before the auditions phase finally wraps up next week. This week a very talented Irish guy named Karl covered The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction”. The audience went wild — but he still failed to make the cut, as the bar is getting very high. Scroll down to find out who managed to make it through. And if you missed any of the previous episodes, you can catch up here.
MEET THIS WEEK’S QUALIFIERS
Noa amar
Noa, 17, probably struggles at airport security — she’s got piercings and metal embellishments all over the place. But don’t let that put you off: she’s a good girl who wants to fight racism and discrimination through her music. She sang Alicia Keys’ “We Are Here” and added some rap verses that she wrote herself. The audience and the majority of the judges couldn’t vote against peace and love. But does she have what it takes to reach the final?
Idan Tendler
Idan, 24, was once in a band with the brother of judge Harel Skaat. Today he works as a sales representative by day and as a singing waiter by night. Idan sang his version of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” using his own organ (the instrument, not his member). Harel Skaat said he has shades of Elton John!
Kfir Popovitz
Kfir is a 21-year-old soldier. As a teenager he took part in a kids reality show called the “The Band Project”. The judges took notice that he is one of the better looking male contestants they’ve come across, but they also had plenty of criticism after his performance of “Latet Ve’Lakakhat” (“Give And Take”). In the end, the judges decided to give him a chance and he got the ticket for the next round. A pretty face never hurt anyone…
Achi Natan
Achi, 26, rose to fame two years ago as a contestant on the Israeli version of “Big Brother”. He almost made it to the final, but not quite. Achi knows it’s not an easy task to try his luck as a singer, so he took some time off from showbiz to work on his own music, which he started doing well before “Big Brother”. He sang “Million She’elot” (“A Million Questions”) — a song he wrote about his ex-girlfriend.
Lior miara
Lior, 31, is a singer-songwriter who performs at weddings and other events, and has written a few hits for some pretty famous Israeli singers. For his audition Lior chose a song he wrote (together with Eliran Avital) called “Boi Achshav” (“Come Now”). The judges weren’t sure whether he should qualify for the next phase, but in the end judge Mooki agreed to change his vote to give Lior a chance.

The final two audition episodes are coming up next week, followed by phase 2, where the judges will choose the finalists. The finalists will then be eliminated one-by-one on each show until the winner emerges.
Which artists do you like the most so far? Who do you think could do well for Israel at Eurovision?
Its a TV show “Next star” and the winner will represent Israel in Eurovision 2016.
We just finished the 1st round with 50 contenders.
In this Friday we start the 2nd stage.
My favorite is “Hovi star” 🙂
I think it will take time until we announced our song 😀
Cheers from Israel
Achi was on ‘Big Brother’ in Israel which Asi used to co-host up till last season. He almost made it into the four finalists list, but ended up 5th on the final elimination, so wouldn’t it be nice if Asi went out of his way to fix this ‘swell guy’ a happy end with a silver lining? That’s what the viewers want…and it’s good ratings too! 14 episodes of auditions is cynical, just like this entire process is phony and scripted, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise. This show is not about Eurovision: It’s about giving people their 5… Read more »
What is going on with the male host in the last two? Exhaustion?
I’m guessing Achi is his army buddy and Lior is the bald judges’ nephew.
14 episodes of auditions????????????????????
