The first heat of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2016 — Finland’s Eurovision selection — will take place this Saturday. Six artists will fight for three spots in the final. The hot favourite is Saara Aalto, who will compete with “No Fear“. We had the chance to speak with Saara ahead the semifinal and she was pure joy as she sounded off on everything from her #NoFear2016 bullying campaign to her love of China to the magic of Oriental sounds.

Saara Aalto (UMK 2016): Interview

Saara, of course, is a veteran in Finland’s Eurovision selection. She finished second with “Blessed With Love” back in 2011. Looking back she thinks missing out on Eurovision the first time around may have been a good thing. She’s gained a lot of experience and thinks this could be her year.

saara aalto dress umk 16Her UMK16 entry is for everyone who harbours prejudice towards others — her message is to face those people with no fear. The biggest challenge with the song was to fit that message into just three minutes, but we think she nailed it. Along with the song, the music video shows a new side of Saara. She’s danced her whole life, but this is the first time we see her dancing in a video. Shake dem hips, girl!

Earlier this week we got our first taste of Saara’s performance and she revealed her gorgeous dress. The dress isn’t giving Saara much room to move, but luckily she will have hot male dancers around her to take care of the motion. The show will be BIG and very difficult, according to Saara. We can’t wait!

Saara is sending lots of love to all you wiwireaders and hopes everyone to join her No Fear movement. Share your story of a moment when you have had no fear with the hashtag #nofear2016.

The so is the best in the selection.

With this song t should stat of with her alone until the second chorus kicks in.

And just have gold and white lights on the stage with a few dancers.

Less is more with this style of song.

Good Luck!

i feel like the performance would be more complete if she stuck to the effects that were in her video
‘hot male dancers’+big puffy dress seems a little bit of a stretch for her song idk
