Hungary has slashed its 30 A Dal 2016 acts down to 18, but there’s still some more pruning to do before the 27 February final. Over the next two weekends, we’ll lose another ten acts across two semi-finals. Yesterday, MTVA revealed the line-up for both shows, and they sure know how to make things exciting.

The first semi-final is set for Saturday 13 February. Fan favourite Freddie won’t be singing until the following week, so this semi looks like it’s the Kállay Saunders Band’s to lose. However, the Eurovision 2014 singer won’t have everything his own way. In fact, we suspect that tensions may be running high in his house this week, as his girlfriend Reni Tolvai will also be competing on Saturday. Don’t expect them to go easy on each other! The couple will also face B The First, Benji, Gergö Oláh, Karmapolis & Böbe Szécsi, Mushu, Szilvia Agárdi and Heat Three winner Petruska.

Only four will make it through to the final. An initial round of voting will see three qualifiers progress, as determined by a mixture of jury and viewer scores. The fourth finalist will be chosen during a second round of 100% public voting. Viewers at home will be able to vote by SMS, via the app or online. In fact, those of you outside Hungary will also be able to vote on the official A Dal website. But before all that, it’s time to choose your favourites. Who deserves to make it out of the semi?

You can listen to all nine tracks below. Then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every act you want to support before submitting your votes. Voting ends on Friday 12 January — just ahead of the first semi-final on Saturday 13 January. Also, you can still vote in our main A Dal poll, where you can choose from all 30 entries.

First of all, the stage should not be qualified. It’s probably the worst trash I’ve ever seen. Hungarians annually organize selections on the same stage. It is a pity that later stage at the ESC always looks completely different. Stages at the ESC always have much simpler shape than stage in “A Dal”. That’s the truth. Why no one sees it? Why are all blind?

Kallay will certainly qualify.Reni Tolvai is my runner-up.Definetly the best song in studio version but live it sounded really bad and the dancers…aw….I hope she does better this time cuz I really want her to pass :p .It wouldn’t be bad if Karmapolis would pass aswell.

I watched the performances now for the first time and the one which impressed the most was Reni Tolvai with “FIRE”. Very cool song and performance, I can see it doing very well in Sweden.

This semifinal is stronger than the second semi. A few entries that won’t qualify, they would do if they were in the 2nd semifinal, like Petruska, Mushu, Szilvia. For me:

1. Kállay Saunders Band – “Who We Are”
2. Gergö Oláh – “Gyöz a Jó”
3. Reni Tolvai – “Fire”
4. Benji – “Kötéltánc”
——————————–
5. Petruska – “Trouble In My Mind”
6. Szilvia Agárdi – “It Is Love”
7. Mushu – “Uncle Tom”
8. Karmapolis & Böbe Szécsi – “Hold On To”
9. B The First – “You Told Me That You Loved Me”

Do you know, what is the best in Hungary? They eliminated almost all female singers during first heats. Because we are really tired with them. I hope, they will choose any interesting band like KS Band or Mushu.

1) Karmapolis & Böbe Szécsi – “Hold On To”
2) Mushu – “Uncle Tom”
3) Gergo Ólah – “Gyoz a jó”
4) Szilvia Agárdi – “It Is Love”
——–
5) Benji – “Kötéltánc”
6) Kállay Saunders Band – “Who We Are” (just because it’s become so overrated)
7) Reni Tolvai – “Fire”
8) Petruska – “Trouble In My Mind”
9) B The First – “You Told Me You Loved Me”

This semi is a bloodbath while the other one only has like two decent acts (they must really want Freddie to win).
