After weeks of waiting since Kaliopi was announced as the representative of FYR Macedonia back in November, we now finally know when we will get to hear the song. Kaliopi will premiere her Eurovision 2016 entry on a special show on March 7. Also we now know the name of her song — it’s called “Dona”.
Kaliopi has written the lyrics of her entry, with the music composed by her long-term collaborator Romeo Grill. The two of them also wrote her her entry back in 2012. Just like “Crno i Belo“, the song will be sung in Macedonian.
This will be Kaliopi’s third involvement with Eurovision. In 1996 she won Skopje Fest, making her FYR Macedonia’s debut Eurovision act. However, her song “Samo ti” did not make it past the controversial audio-only prequalifying round, so Kaliopi did not make it to Eurovision that year.
But she made a comeback 16 years later when she represented FYR Macedonia in Baku. Her song “Crno i Belo” broke a four-year non-qualification streak and by placing 13th gave the country its second best score. Given that FYR Macedonia hasn’t qualified in recent years, it looks like the broadcaster is hoping history will repeat when its favourite diva takes to the stage in Stockholm.
We spoke with the lady herself a few weeks ago, but back then she told us that it was too early to tell anything about her song. We still don’t know much – but at least the song is ready! Kaliopi is also currently filming the music video for the song.

Dona in italian mean “give”
Serbian language sounds like Macedonian, but I don’t know what ‘Dona’ means 😀
To be honest, I’m not expecting Dona to be better than Crno i Belo or that it will do better than Crno I belo but at least it will bring Macedonia back to the final.
I’m just so pleased to have her back, that entry is my favourite Macedonian entry ever!
Finally some Balkan energy is returning to the contest.
I really hope it sounds like 2012 and why not since it’s the same team 🙂

For me , I think we have italian title of song for Macedonia Dona. At San Remo 1990 we had Donna con te sang by Anna Oxa.
She was incredible in 2012, so I’m expecting SO much.
