For Melodifestivalen fans, every leak has a silver lining! Following last night’s early release of a portion of Molly Sandén’s Melodifestivalen 2016 track “YOUniverse”, SVT has decided to release 30-second clips of all seven songs competing in Semi-Final 4 in Gävle. It’s a move meant to “neutralise any advantage” given to Miss Sandén in the contest. The clips went online at 17:00 CET on Tuesday and will be available for 24 hours. So turn up the volume and start listening…
As you’ll recall, a 30-second clip of “YOUniverse” was published on Amazon Italy last night, sending the Eurosphere into a frenzy as fans debated whether the song should be pulled from the competition. The rules strictly forbid any portion of the competing songs from being revealed before SVT publishes brief clips in the days leading to the semi-final.
But Christer Björkman, the executive producer of Melodifestivalen, says Molly and her team did nothing wrong — and that the incident does not merit disqualification. “There was not any intent by the artist or the record company and in all communication they have been clear that the release date is February 28,” he said in a statement. The error, it seems, came with the online platforms who published the clip.
“It is extremely unfortunate that the error has occurred and we strongly recommend that record companies are exceedingly clear in all communications with all of its sales channels in the future.”

just send isa this melfest sucks and Björkman knows it to win on home soil you need an outstanding song! howevervthe juries may overate Sweden this year sweden will get a top 3 in the jury votes imho.
Based on these snippets, my faves so far are “Killer Girl” and “Youniverse”, closely
followed by “Rollercoaster”, then “Runaways”. The others are too boring or too hyper for my taste. But, hey, we must have the full song and staging to make a realistic decision! 😀
Tempted as I may be, I have not listened to a single SECOND of these segments. When it comes to MF, I make it a point not to listen to anything until AFTER I have seen their performances on the show, especially since they try their best to keep the audios under lock and key until after each round is done.
When I say “they”, I mean the record label with which Molly S. is affiliated.
With reference to Björkman’s last statement, the music industry is dying; its longtime business model now outmoded because of their refusal to change with the times. Sales are no longer enough to sustain an artist (touring does that), and therefore, not enough to sustain the major labels. So, I imagine they got careless in not enforcing the rules with regard to release of this material. Either that, or Amazon Italy was way too eager to get the jump on everyone else, rules be damned.
These 30-second clips don’t sound impressive.
Of the snippets, ‘Youniverse’ is still my fave. Really looking forward to hearing ‘Killer Girl’ and ‘Runaways’ in full too. I also don’t mind ‘Du tar mig tillbaks’.
I don’t think I will ever understand people’s love for Dolly Style.
Dolly Style is incredible.
Hard to tell from small clips but Molly sounds great … nothing else worthy is this semi based on the 30 seconds. #TeamMolly
I guess is a fair move, but if they wanted to make things really fair shouldn’t they have released all the remaining clips, also for semi 3?

The only song that i don’t like is the one from Martin, i almost felt asleep and it was only 30 secs……. god i dont wanna hear a 3 minute boring song, but i think they want for the very first time in 2 years, that song 2 (running spot) qualify’s.

Frans and his “If I were sorry” all the way, along with Robin Bengston. They are the best in this Melodifestivalen. My prediction on what it will be:

– FRANS – IF I WERE SORRY (the best in this semi, but he is relatively unknown and his song isn’t untempo so if he goes to the Andra he will be lucky)
Omg. Don’t say that this is a weak semi and that Dolly Style is a bang at the same time. They are for kids and not ESC! Last year MF was the worst as well. Look what happend! I don’t think we will win this year but I can say that the best songs that has come out from this years MF such as Robin, Wiktoria, Ace, ISA.. are MUCH better than the songs chosen for ESC so far. Weak semi, all the songs are pretty bad except for Molly. I like her song a lot and she has a great voice, but the lyrics are kinda cringey.. She’ll probably end up winning anyways.
‘Youniverse’ was not as good as made out in my opinion. It’s alright, but if I had to rank them it would go to Andra Chansen.
Dolly Style however…. I liked last year, and their songs recently have been so good (‘Cherry Gum’ is a banger) and this year they’ve pulled this out of the bag. DAMN! It sounds awesome, more fun than the other songs in this semi, plus we know they’ll put on a good show.
This MF wili be one of worst MF in last 10 to 15 years . Not many good songs this year. Last year we had in first semifinal 5 good songsm , last year I didn t t like only song from Daniel and duet Miri and Victor from I semi , this year in 2 semifinal we have only 4 good songs till now Wiktoria, Isa, Robin and Ace. SVT want to Molly win the MF 2016 , instead to disqulified her and her song from semi final 4, they realase snippet of all songs from her semifinal.
At this moment Samir & Viktor are clear favorites of televoting. They have now 4 songs in top 100 iTunes charts in Sweden!

This shows how great is now the hype about them. Only the jury can be a problem. They are getting dumber every year. The last two Eurovisions were easy to evaluate, therefore they not evaluated tragically. But this year they began again to show their true face.
This will be most probably the best semi final of Melodifestivalen 2016. Finally, something begins to improve.

I think Mollys song first sounded not so good. But I think the full song will be great. I like the sound now. This little snippet doesn’t reveal much though.. Don’t forget that the hype has been around Molly and not the song itself. Next week we’ll see her on stage and hear the full song.
@Toby . most people here are sadly to hyped about our national selection and if the songs aren’t that good in the snippets make them believe they know the whole song… remember last year how disappointing it was when they’ve heard all songs… we won 🙂 as a swede I wouldn’t mind if we got a lower rank this year ( we ended up on place 14th last time it was in sweden) we have won 6 times and holds some records in eurovision 🙂 not many can say that… I don’t care what others think of our songs we… Read more »
