The Wiwi Jury is continuing our trip through Poland, ahead of Krajowe Eliminacje 2016, the Polish selection for Eurovision 2016. With eight more songs to get through, this time the jury will be taking a look at Kasia Mos with her song “Addiction”. You can see what we thought of the song below. Don’t forget to vote in our Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 poll too so that you can have your say on Kasia and all of the competing artists.
Kasia Mos – “Addiction”
“Addiction” reviews
Chris: It feels like a lot more thought went into the music video for “Addiction” than the song itself. Any song called “Addiction” is also going to be unfavorably compared to Medina for me, too, sorry. There’s a bit of a laid back vibe, Kasia’s voice is enchanting (almost Diana Vickers-esque) and it’s quite nice as background music. Unfortunately, this is for Eurovision and background music gets culled quickly there.
Score: 6/10
Luis: “Addiction” has a big problem: there’s a battle between the instrumentals and Kasia’s voice, and it’s the music that’s winning. Both of them are good on their own, but the mix is so-so. Also, the verses build to what should be an interesting climax…that never arrives. In fact, I’d say the chorus is the song’s weakest part.
Score: 5/10
Marek: This is the first song I’ve heard where the studio version is worse than the live version. This isn’t just a comment on the terrible music video, but the song as a whole. At least now we know Kasia’s voice is much better live, which is good for Eurovision. The song is really good, so modern — I would compare it to Aminata’s “Love Injected”. It has a lot of high notes which won’t be a problem for her voice. I’d like to see that violinist with her on stage — that makes a really good atmosphere. It’s not like Slovenia’s violin mime in Vienna, but more comforting.
Score: 8.5/10
Antranig: The composition of “Addiction” is generally solid. Kasia’s vocals are also very strong. Unfortunately when you put it all together, it feels like a hot mess — there’s an amazing beat in the background that sounds great on its own, but completely overpowers her vocals when you look at the whole package. She’ll be great live, but she could use a better song.
Score: 4/10
Jason: Although I like the growly tone of Kasia’s voice, it is grating (dare I say annoying) in parts and this could be a major turn off for viewers. “Addiction” never really goes anywhere and will likely fail to stand out amongst the big ballads and uptempo numbers in Krajowe Eliminacje. If it were to make it to the Globen, it would get lost.
Score: 5/10
David: This is pretty good. She’s got a great voice. It’s a good song that keeps moving and growing. The instrumentals are really good adding to the song and the camera loves her. This could be a strong contender in the final.
Score: 8.5/10
Robyn: “Addiction” is missing impact. Kasia Mos has a lovely tone to her voice, but her enunciation is poor in places, which kills the meaning of the lyrics. There’s not a lot of tonal variety in the song. It’s all on the same level, a perpetual sense of simmering menace with no conclusion.
Score: 5/10
Deban: Addiction sounds like the first draft of a stellar tune. A lot of thought has gone into the visuals. When you deconstruct the elements here, there is little fault to be found. However, the cohesion isn’t fully realised. Still, I have faith in its potential. Laidback EDM is cool, and so is Kasia.
Score: 7/10

Hi RMN – as you’ve probably noticed, we only have certain characters that we can use. Unfortunately with some languages it does mean we can’t spell names with 100% accuracy.
Haha! Technical malfunction. Some blogs don’t allow certain characters to be typed! 😀
Damn. It is pretty ironic, my previous comment does not show the most important thing which wrote about.
Oh please be nice, people. Music supposed to bring us together. 🙂
Kasia Mos has a great voice, and I LOVE this song. She would be my favourite for Poland if it wasn’t for Margaret and Michal. Kasia is 3rd in my list, but I’m definitely a fan of hers and I really want her to keep coming back, hopefully to represent Poland next year. 🙂
Dear Wiwibloggs. It is Kasia Mo? with “?” in the end, not Mos. If you can use diacritical marks in swedish names for example, you can also do it in any other case. Peace.
If anyone is skijumper, pushing to cross country skiing predominantly does not make sense. If someone has no idea about Eurovision, this should give up from this contest. Just being of Dolly Style or Margaret or Jamie Lee Kriewitz or even Isa and Ace Wilder is not enough. You need also some effort.
@Szymi, could not agree more with you. This MGR guy has to be banned from posting anymore false comments
@Mgr, you’re pathetic troll. Michal Szpak song sucks! Kasia Mos is pretty good though.
It is better for Margaret that she will lost in national selections against Micha? Szpak, instead of disaster and discredit in the ESC in Stockholm.
