We’re just a few hours away from learning who will represent the UK at Eurovision 2016. With Eurovision: You Decide kicking off at 20.30 CET tonight, we have been polling you all week as to who you want to see as the UK’s act. Not only that, but our UK Wiwi Jury has blitzed through all six songs at the same time. We have combined the results and Darline should win with their song “Until Tomorrow”.

It wasn’t exactly a hard fought victory either: Darline won both with the Wiwi Jury with a high score of 7.75, whilst the duo won our fan poll with 31% of the vote. Second place was much closer, with Bianca’s “Shine a Little Light” ultimately beating Joe and Jake’s “You’re Not Alone” in the fan poll, although the Wiwi Jury just preferred the former Voice contestants.

Eurovision: You Decide Combined Results

eurovision you decide combined results

1. Darline – “Until Tomorrow”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4CVWZjXmeY

The best:  This song takes me to heaven and back. When I first heard it, I thought it was cute. On the second listen, I fell in love — it touched something deep inside me. These ladies bring youthful energy and “Until Tomorrow” is beautiful both lyrically and musically. Their vocals complement the song perfectly and with the right staging, I’m willing to bet this could sneak into the Top 10. (Antranig, 10/10)

The worst:  The gentle vocal tones from Abby and Cára singing in harmony are simply adorbs, delivering a warm and fuzzy feeling. Staging would need to be kept simple in order for the girls to make a real impact. (Anthony, 7/10)

Poll result: 1st; Wiwi Jury: 1st

2. Bianca – “Shine a Little Light”

https://youtu.be/E-FsIesCAwU

The best:  Perhaps the most sophisticated and commercial of this year’s UK selection, Bianca soars and sizzles over the beats. This well-produced number has got radio potential, and could easily put the United Kingdom on the left side of the scoreboard. (Deban, 8.5/10)

The worst:  I hate the backing track to this song. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it sounds like the demo track you get on a cheap electronic keyboard. Bianca’s voice soars above it, but I’m already too distracted because the whole thing feels cheap and nasty as a result. (Chris, 5/10)

Poll result: 2nd; Wiwi Jury: 3rd

3. Joe and Jake – “You’re Not Alone”

https://youtu.be/ZYQ6BHP5tG0

The best:  This is just so British! Despite the obvious nod to Coldplay, Joe and Jake are doing their own thing and delivering a mainstream, radio-friendly song. The production sounds expensive and their voices blend really well. I worry the song gets a tad repetitive, but hopefully they can add shape and variety during their live performance. (William, 8/10)

The worst:  Nothing about this spells stardom — even the name Joe and Jake — doesn’t court any notions of something special. Similarly, their song is equally lacklustre. (Deban, 4.5/10)

Poll result: 3rd; Wiwi Jury: 2nd

4. Karl William Lund – “Miracle”

https://youtu.be/qgOE70yNp48

The best:  My Swedophile senses are tingling. And it’s starting to pick up some Scandi-pop influences, although this sounds like something out of a rejected entry from Denmark’s selection show Melodi Grand Prix. Not a bad entry, but I still prefer the Romanian “Miracle”. (Anthony, 6.5/10)

The worst:  If the UK sends this, they will need a miracle to avoid last place. The chorus is derivative and mediocre, the verses lack any real power and it never gets out of first gear. The lyrics are unfortunately the best part of the song and they’re not great. (Antranig, 2.5/10)

Poll result: 4th; Wiwi Jury: 4th

5. Dulcima – “When You Go”

https://youtu.be/JHOO1gSRO8o

The best:  He has a great indie-folk voice, whilst she has a great cruise-ship singer voice. But this is a seriously great song — jolly, catchy and well-produced. If this were sung by Mumford & Sons, it would surely go top-5. (Edd, 8.5/10)

The worst:  This was quite promising at the beginning, but before the first 60 seconds had passed, the song suddenly suffered an embolism and became total nonsense. Dulcima have lovely voices, but their song is just null. (Luis, 2.5/10)

Poll result: 5th; Wiwi Jury: 5th

6. Matthew James – “A Better Man”

https://youtu.be/oqWUyKT6jro

The best:  Snippets of this would work fine as pre-boarding background music, but I could live without three minutes of it on repeat. It’s bland and representative of music selected for background only. (Deban, 4/10)

The worst:  The lyrics make me cringe, the music is not enjoyable and the vocals are nothing worth writing home about. After listening to it three times in a row, I can’t find one thing I like about it — surely there must have been at least one better song submitted to the BBC. (Antranig, 1/10)

Poll result: 6th; Wiwi Jury: 6th

At least UK can be better than Latvia and Poland (with Margaret).

Thank you UK for the great finals! Likable hostess, great judge panel, professional staging 🙂 🙂 🙂 All entries were great! That’s right, EVERYONE! My vote would maybe go to Bianca, she was just mesmerizing. Also Karl and Darline, who would be my co-choices. Other three did a great job too. I think UK might get high on score this year.

After seeing the live performances, I’m rooting for Dulcima. Great uptempo song with easily the most interesting and riveting vocals of the night.

Darline has a good song, but they definitely had nervous vocals for the first minute or so of the song. And they were sorely lacking someone to sing the natural third harmonic line. If they win, I’ll still be happy, but they would have a lot of work to do before Eurovision.

It is duel between Darline and Joe & Jake. Bianca is too boring, the rest even worse. UK has only two options tonight!!!

The 2 lads need to win! Great voices that work beautifully together, very good song, not to mention how cute they are! ;). I will be very dissapointed if they don’t go to Stockholm… But I guess we’ll see…

On a different note, I love the presenter, she’s hilarious 🙂

4th song Karl William Lund – “Miracle” is clear copy of Tom “I’m Not Lost” from belgian selections.

Dulcima has no chance, Matthew James and Darline are better from three first performance. But they all are really bad.

Really? I’m writing this as I watch them live, being the first time I listen to the song, and I am sooo underwhelmed!!! What is this?! Music for kids?! I liked the previous 2 performances much more!!!

Sorry, but I find this song/group boring….reminds me of Anna Bergendahl in 2010. Joe and Jake are better…but are they better live? Not sure!

It’s impossible to predict where they would end up at eurovision (i.e. we don’t know other songs, live vocals, staging etc.) but musically speaking, Darline is the strongest, followed by Bianca then Jake and Joe.

I know I’ll probably be voting for Darline tonight!

Darline is basically First Aid Kit, but yes, it’s definitely the best song. I hope these girls can sing live because if so, UK will stand out from the rest and hopefully make a impact.

I like Darline. If they get it right live, this would be the best UK entry in MANY years!

With Darline I see UK out of TOP 10 or maybe TOP 15 at Eurovision. My prediction from 14 to 18 place in final.
With Bianca I see UK in TOP 10 from 6 to 10 place in final.
Other songs, wili be in final from 18 to 26 place in final.
