Lidia Isac should thank her lucky “Falling Stars” for bringing her the victory in Moldova‘s national selection O melodie pentru Europa 2016 last night. After winning her semi-final, she went on to win the national final as well, with a little help from the viewers, who put her at the top of the scoreboard. Maybe it was the Falling Stars lyrics that convinced them to support Lidia: “We could be the greatest falling / The brightest falling stars”.
It was the fourth consecutive time Lidia Isac tried to win the national selection in Moldova, and the second time she participated as a solo act. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, she competed as part of girl band Glam Girls, and last year she also competed by herself – so she had two songs in the contest. This year, however, she participated as a solo act only and she was a fan favourite from the get-go, owing to the strength of her dance track “Falling Stars”, written by some of the team behind last year’s runner up in Vienna, Polina Gagarina and her song “A Million Voices”. After her victory last night and ongoing success in the Moldovan charts, could Lidia enjoy similar success in Stockholm? We’ll have to wait until May to find out!
