Eurovision entries are coming at us fast and furious. Since Thursday, we’ve gotten eight new songs to add to the existing collection of 15. That brings the total number of songs to 23 and takes us past the halfway point. Of course, as in previous weeks, there are a number of caveats to bear in mind. Malta’s “Chameleon” appears to be in its death throes, Albania’s “Përrallë” is due to undergo a major revamp, while Italy have yet to confirm if “Nessun grado di separazione” will make it to Stockholm. Nonetheless, we’re including them all.

Since 13 January, y’all have cast more than 29,300 votes in our weekly favourite act polls. Once again, it’s time to wipe the slate clean and ask you to choose your favourite Eurovision 2016 act so far. You can listen to the eight new additions and watch our video reactions below. Then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every act you want to support before submitting your votes. Voting ends early on Wednesday 2 March — just ahead of Armenia’s song reveal.

We will then relaunch the poll to include all the entries that drop between then and FYR Macedonia’s song reveal on 7 March.

Eurovision 2016: Our top 23 so far

Germany: Jamie-Lee Kriewitz “Ghost”

Germany put all its recent Eurovision drama behind it when the new look Unser Lied für Stockholm took place on Thursday. Ten acts competed, with Jamie-Lee Kriewitz emerging victorious. And what a convincing win it was — “Ghost” received almost half a million votes, 120,000 more than second place. The selection also attracted its highest viewing figures since 2010, the year Lena won with “Satellite”. Could history repeat itself?

United Kingdom: Joe and Jake “You’re Not Alone”

After five years of internal selections, the UK held its one shot national final on Friday. Six acts battled for Blighty with Joe and Jake coming out on top“You’re Not Alone” has already divided fans, with many preferring the Leona Lewis penned balladry of Bianca or the country twangs of Darline. However, the general consensus is that the country is taking a step in the right direction. Will Britain make it back onto the left-hand side of the scoreboard for the first time since 2011?

Moldova: Lidia Isac “Falling Stars”

Following two semi-finals earlier in the week, Moldova’s O melodi pentru Europa came to its conclusion on Saturday. It was fourth time lucky for Lidia Isac who won the competition with “Falling Stars”. She only finished third with the jury, but a strong televote was enough to secure her victory. Her song was written by some of the people behind Polina Gagarina’s “A Million Voices”. Are they set to experience Eurovision success once again?

Reaction video coming soon!

Slovenia: ManuElla “Blue and Red”

Saturday also saw Slovenia choose its representative for Stockholm. From a field of ten entries, they opted for ManuElla and her country track “Blue And Red”. Can she take the Balkan nation to the grand final for the third year running? Or will the entry be left black and blue in the semis?

Finland: Sandhja “Sing It Away”

Before Saturday it was all about two acts in Finland — Mikael Saari and Saara Aalto. However, to everyone’s surprise Sandhja completely dominated the jury vote. And even though the public only ranked her third, “Sing It Away” is heading to Stockholm. Will Finland be back in the final after last year’s misfire?

Hungary: Freddie “Pioneer”

Hungary’s six week national selection wrapped up with Freddie being crowned champion. “Pioneer” entered the A Dal final as hot favourite, and not even Eurovision 2014 star Kállay Saunders could stop him. Can he continue Hungary’s qualifying streak and bring them to the final for the sixth consecutive year?

Norway: Agnete “Icebreaker”

Norway brought Super Saturday to a close by selecting Agnete for Eurovision. “Icebreaker” won Melodi Grand Prix in a landslide, topping the televote in every region. The tempo change has jarred with some eurofans, but how will the general European population react in May? Is the Nordic nation heading straight to the top ten for the third time in as many years?

Latvia: Justs “Heartbeat”

Aminata is back at Eurovision — well sort of. Last year’s Latvian representative is the songwriter of “Heartbeat”, the song which won Supernova 2016 earlier tonight. Justs was expected to enjoy a runaway victory, but he ended up facing stiff competition from Catalepsia in the televote. Will he bring Latvia to their second semi-final in a row?

@Alexovich: Wait until after the deadline (I think it is March 15), when the Wiwi jury grades these songs, one by one. They’ll have 7½ weeks to grade 43 songs; which is about 11 or 12 songs every 2 weeks. By then, we will have had enough time to listen to the songs, read the lyrics and watch the music videos to pass judgments of our own.

OY!! I almost forgot about Jamala. I’ll bet that stage setup is going to be just as astounding. If the contest were THIS Saturday, I’d put as much horse money on her as I would on Freddie.

I would have still gone with Malta, pending a revamp or replacement. But right now I’m looking forward to Freddie’s video for “Pioneer”. I want to see Hungarian theater put to full use (on video and stage) the way it was put to use for András in 2014; one of the biggest reasons he finished 5th that year, as opposed to somewhere in the middle.

These general polls are now meaningless, every time someone riggs. Even if the Bosnian entry is overrated, it’s not THAT overrated to tripple the second one on top. It should be 24’th, would realistically probably be around 12’th, winning the poll is rigged as hell. And rigging the terrible song now ain’t going to make it better or more likely to win the real contest, since 95% of actual voters don’t even know these polls exist.

I know they are rigged either way but I would much prefer Ireland topping this poll than Bosnia-Herzegovina. Their song is terrible this year, any other song could be on top but please not them. #BringBackLaka

Now that France has revealed their song (which I love) I now have a new top 10:
1. Iceland
2. France
3. Latvia
4. Spain
5. Ireland
6. Denmark
7. Italy (if they keep the song)
8. Malta
9. Austria
10. United Kingdom
I’m sure my Top 10 will change again if Ace Wilder wins Melfest in Sweden.

February polls are all about “give me a new candy, I’m tired of the last one”

That’s why Latvia is so high right now. Last released song

Wait till march when everybody is “tired” of listening every song. It’s then when people starts to make fair, objective judgements

Bosnia strikes back! 😀
The real revelation there is that Latvia has a strong immediate following, and Spain’s Barei is still doing quite well (for some reason).
As usual the poll bares no resemblance to my personal tastes, but I’m waiting for all 43 songs before I actually start trying to rank them. It shouldn’t be too hard to do, since this appears to be the weakest year for entries in quite some time. x

Cyprus song is outstanding. If they put on a great show, they can follow the path of Lordi 2006 and take it all.

I just hope Europe consider them, as they don’t have the “neighbouring factor” bar Greece and Turkey.

Mediterranean countries have to support this and I hope my country (Spain) gives a good bunch of points to this masterpiece.
