French singer Amir will represent France with his song “J’ai cherché” (“I searched”), described as a “catchy and modern pop song with electronic beats”. In a break from tradition, the song is in French with an English chorus.
The lyrics are hopeful and romantic. Amir starts off feeling a little lost – “J’ai cherché un sens à mon existence” (I searched for a meaning to my existence). But he meets someone who leaves him feel complete, who is the other half of his universe.
And then comes the big chorus. “You-ou-ou-ou-ou,” Amir sings, “You’re the one that’s making me strong/I’ll be looking, looking for you/Like the melody of my song.”
Amir has competed on A Star Is Born in Israel and The Voice in France, giving him plenty of experience to take to Stockholm. Can he break France’s run of bad scoring and put his country back on the left-hand side of the scoreboard?
