Bellissimo! Fans of “Nessun grado di separazione” will be delighted to know that this is the song Francesca Michielin will perform at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest!

Just few minutes ago the Italian website Eurofestival News announced that – unless there are last-minute changes – Italy is set to present this song, which finished as runner-up at the recent Sanremo Music Festival.

EUROVISION 2016 TOP 11: OUR FAVOURITES SO FAR

RAI and Sony Music Italy are yet to decide in which language the Francesca will sing. Three options are still in contention: full Italian, full English or a mix between the two.

As you might have read here on Wiwibloggs, Francesca has a clear idea: “I would like to sing in English at the Eurovision.

Eurofestival News launched a poll on their Twitter account asking people which language Francesca should perform in. At the moment almost 50% of the voters selected the option full Italian.

FRANCESCA MICHIELIN “NESSUN GRADO DI SEPARAZIONE”

This song has some very beautiful and profound lyrics, even when translated. For example: “And i watched the world from a door that was never completely open.” There’s a real emotive power to this song which the listener will either connect with, or won’t. I like the Italian, although it’s unfortunate if the producers don’t at least consider making a video in English or another language, just to communicate the meaning to as many people as possible. At the contest itself, i agree the song should be in Italian, since that is showing its original beauty. But i would like… Read more »

Yay!!

And in Italian, please.

This song in English lose all the feeling, like “stay with me” the English version of “quédate conmigo” by Pastora Soler. In Spanish was so emotional and in English… mehhhh.

This is another performance of Francesca singing “Nessun grado di separazione”. You can skip the intro and start watching from 1:00.

All-Italian. The success of “Grande amore” will replicate with “Nessun grado di separazione”. It is catchy, and I hope sininging in 100% Italian is what makes her the potential candidate to win Eurovision this year.

Firstly, happy that she’s keeping the song. I love it.

Secondly, here’s what I suggest to remove the extra :33 seconds off the song:
1. Remove the :09 intro before she sings.
2. Remove the second verse and go straight to the bridge OR remove the part after the second chorus before the final chorus. However, that’s my favorite part of the song, especially going to the final chorus. Both are :25 each.

It worked for Grande Amore last year, so we’ll see what they’ll do to her song.

This is the first Italian song that I have been excited about.
It was definitely the right choice to keep it. It might not do as well as the cheesy song that they sent last year but I definitely think the Italians should hold themselves up to a higher standard when it comes to the quality of their entries. This song does that and more.

I am happy that Fransesca will sing her San Remo song in Stockholm, It ‘s a beautiful song. But I hope she will sing her song 100% in Italian, because that ‘s the most wonderful language for music

Italy have promoted the contest to RAI 1 for the first time in years, so maybe they’ll insist on at least some Italian. I hope so.

Why are San Remo so touchy about their performances being up on YouTube? It’s hard to find even performances from years ago!

I would suggest that she changes the song title in English so it will be easier to remember. Maybe add English towards the end or during the bridge so viewers have an idea on what she’s singing. Then bring the concept of the MV onto the Eurovision staging. Voila! possible winner for sure

Eugene, I absolutely agree. Winning or Top 10 should ne the goal. For non-big 5 even finals is good, though. IMHO, Italy has a strong entry and judging by songs so far is more likely than not being in Top 10.

YAAAY! Italy, Francesca Michielin, and Nessun Grado Di Separazione is my favourite entry this year by far 😀 The lyrics are sooo beautiful and totally sweet! I think the song should be kept in Italian, except for the second verse and chorus that could be in English, while the first verse and chorus as well as the last chorus should totally be in Italian! I don’t believe it will do well, but Italy will serve once again spectacular entry in Eurovision, after Marco Mengoni and Il Volo! Probably it will just miss out the top 10, or even worse.. They didn’t say it’s confirmed, but it may be confirmed. A little less Google Translate, a bit more native Italians among your editorial board.

It is a great song, but I will refrain from rating it until they decide on the language thing. In italian it would go straight into my top-5, but in english I’m not so sure.

I REALLY didn’t mean anything bad by it, honestly. I hope you don’t misinterpret it. I respect your standpoint, I just say that while I prioritize weather *I* like the song over it’s statistic chance of winning.

Eugene, I see you are kind of ‘First is first, second is none’ kind of guy when it comes to ESC. 🙂 I hope you really get involved in UK ESC since being competitive isn’t bad at all when it comes to business.
I just like to hear a lot of good songs and hope one of them wins.

Another poor song- at least UK stands a chance of picking up a few votes this year! Put UK in between a few bad, boring songs like this, then who knows? What a poor selection of songs this year- let’s hope the ones yet to be announced are pretty good, else we are in for a boring Eurovision this year!

Yeah, but 11’th isn’t exactly bottom, especially knowing that 1’st is definitely rigged and perhaps even 2’nd, which would make this 9’th. Also, some people (including me) hesitated on voting it knowing it might not be the song after all.

Also, polls placed Sebalter in 2014 usually very low and Mei Feingold usually very high. See what happened.

Colin
Colin

Yes, yes, yes!!! Great song, great news!

Ps. To Eugene; Wiwibloggs poll is obviously rigged and also in 2014 the winning song Rise Like A Phoenix came up 27’th in accumulated top You Tube video.

With good performance, Italy is a candidate of winning this time.

@PP:
“and male singer have better result 2,7,3 and female 9,21, ”

I wouldn’t split it between male and female.
I would split between entries chosen from Sanremo (2,9,7,3) and those chosen outside of it (21).

I’m not a huge fan of this, but okay. As long as they keep it in Italian, all is good.

A mix between English and Italian could work! It makes the song more open to being a commercial success in other non-Italian speaking countries while also keeping it culturally Italian for a ESC entry!

I agree with you.
Interesting from 2011 to 2016 , in 2011,2013,2015 we have male singers , in 2012,2014,2016 we have female singers from Italy, and male singer have better result 2,7,3 and female 9,21, ?
