After a long and uncertain evening in Halmstad, the Andra Chansen duels have come to an end. And from the dust Panetoz, Boris René, SaRaha and Samir & Viktor have lived to see another day as the final finalists of Melodifestivalen 2016!

As they read out the winners of each duel, Christer Björkman and Gina Dirawi simultaneously revealed the running order for next week’s final.

Panetoz will open the show with their feel-good number “Håll om mig hårt,” while Samir & Viktor will close the show with “Bada nakna”. Given the millions of YouTube views they’ve racked up, the group should keep audiences waiting and watching for the entirety of the show. Teen dreams Frans and Wiktoria sing 10th and 11th, giving us a very strong ending indeed.

Melodifestivalen 2016: FINAL Running Order

This is the running order for the #melodifestivalen 2016 final. #Melfest #Eurovision #eurovision2016

A photo posted by wiwibloggs (@wiwibloggs) on

DUEL 1: PANETOZ SLAY MOLLY PETTERSSON HAMMAR WITH “HÅLL OM MIG HÅRT”

Andra Chansen Melodifestivalen 2016 Panetoz

What we said: This is the best performance in all of Melodifestivalen 2016 for me. Note that I said performance there and not song, though. “Håll om mig hårt” is miles better than “Efter solsken” was at least and it’s very catchy. For me, this is the best legitimate effort out of all of Andra Chansen.

DUEL 2: BORIS RENÉ BEATS ALBIN WITH “PUT YOUR LOVE ON ME”

Andra Chansen Melodifestivalen 2016 Boris Rene 2

What we said: This is my jam. I love the updated take on early ’90s Belgian techno-pop, beefed up with Boris’ substantial R&B vocals. He’s a supremely charismatic performer, and brings delicious double entendre to the line “If I go down, are you down with me?” (Oh, stop it!) Yeah, it’s just a dance track and doesn’t have the deep meaning of other Melfest entries, but what a dance track it is!

DUEL 3: SARAHA BEATS ISA

Andra Chansen Melodifestivalen 2016 Saraha 2

What we said: I genuinely exploded when I first heard this. It just has everything I love – colourful costumes, catchy nonsense lyrics, a killer dance beat, African chanting, a key change, confetti, etc, etc, etc!!! Just because something is cheesy doesn’t mean it’s a bad song – that’s just something that society has (annoyingly) decided. This is pure fun, and what is life without fun? My favourite song of the national final season. BY FAR.

DUEL 4: SAMIR & VIKTOR  BEAT DOLLY STYLE

Andra Chansen Melodifestivalen 2016 Samir Viktor 3

What we said: There’s whistling, there’s an EDM post-chorus, and watered down six-packs – it’s heaven. The fun that they have on stage brings me joy – and I think it’s about time Sweden sent something fun. And could you get more Swedish than a blonde and an Arab guy singing about skinny dipping? If they can whip off those trousers, too, when they get to the final, I honestly think this could win the whole thing!

@Marie: The second part of your comment, VERY important. Be very careful in choosing a performance you like, because it also MUST be a performance that OTHER countries are most likely to give their 12 points to. Too many countries this time forgot about that aspect.

Late, as usual. Nonetheless, I watched the recorded broadcast, and here is how I saw the Andra Chansen showdowns: Duel 1: 9.400 Panetoz (advanced) 9.350 Molly Pettersson Hammar I still wish they hadn’t paired these two. When MPH wore a dark outfit this time, I thought she had a chance to steal it. But the guys in Panetoz were all business. I worry about their chances from the pole position. Duel 2: 9.075 Albin and Mattias 9.238 Boris René (advanced) Probably the weakest of the duels. I am not surprised with the outcome. Some contenders came to present their material… Read more »

@MGR
I love your comments. Frans’ song is a boring lullaby. Swedes have to remember: “televoters and juries cannot vote for the country they represent”

He has no chance in 43 countries. I’m too experienced to be wrong in this matter. His success would deny the whole story of this contest. No chance!

I am VERY sure that Frans will win. However it would be quite fun if Oscar Zia won because Sweden is in a Oscar-trend right now x) Last sunday Alicia Vikander won an Oscar. On Wednesday Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden gave birth to a new Prince who will be named Oscar. Btw, all you haters are just pathetic… Frans is brilliant. Modern, genuine, current and very much at the right place at the right time. Come on juries!!! No Sweden won’t win again this year, but that’s not our goal. Eurovision needs to get back to… Read more »

If Frans was weak he wouldn’t be leading on itunes, spotify, Swedish single chart, youtube etc. Becuase someone doesn’t like a song it doesn’t mean it is bad. Jury will support him due it’s a modern, radiofriendly and very well produced song. And it’s leading the odds for some reason. “If I were sorry” will work (already it’s doing in Sweden) outside ESC fans.
(Otherwise, I agree Samir & Viktor will be at least in top 5 in televoting and even will beat who beat them in Semifinal 1 I think)

Molly generally has not bad charts, but still too bad to win.

Frans is even weaker than Ellen Benediktson. Only pathetic people will vote for him. It will be a test of how many pathetic people Sweden have. This is very irrational choice for ESC. He will lost in Stockholm for sure.

It looks definitely too modest.

Frans is only one great favorite this year, but everyone knows that he is much weaker than Mans Zelmerlow. I think also he is much weaker than Jon Henrik Fjallgren. He is something between Jon Henrik Fjallgren and Ellen Benediktson with “Songbird”. He is not unbeatable.

bella

I also think that Frans will do bad at juries and wont win.Maybe Robin can make the difference. I think that juries will support him.Otherwise Molly will win.

MGR

Now Samir & Viktor should be result of searching for another favorite than Frans.

Hasse Andersson was result of searching for another favorite than Mans Zelmerlow and Jon Henrik Fjallgren.

MGR

Frans has much weaker entry than Mans Zelmerlow so he should have more similar result to Jon Henrik Fjallgren who also was overrated.

bella

That means that Frans or Robin will win.

MGR

Generally there are 5 dominant entries on swedish charts (itunes and spotify): Frans, Robin Bengtsson, Saraha, Panetoz and Samir & Viktor. Saraha end Panetoz will probably end like Samir & Viktor, Dinah Nah and Linus Svenning due to bad starting positions. Samir & Viktor now will be in similar role to Hasse Andersson.

Swedes slept during semi-finals but Andra Chansen fortunately woke them.

MGR

Everyone in Sweden are watching Melodifestivalen and that’s why everyone may have his favorite. That’s why some people may think that they and their friends hate Samir & Viktor, but I’m sure that they also have a lot of their fans. Sweden do not have a large population, but everyone is watching Melodifestivalen and that’s why results can not be accidental.

MGR
MGR

I’m rational. Why all people must say that they will vote for Samir & Viktor? They will just vote and that’s all. Do you know that Swedes gave 6 million votes to all performances in Andra Chansen? Do you remember my prediction, that Samir & Viktor will get above million votes in this round? Now this is very possible.

Can’t stand the thought of Frans, Robin or Molly representing us (they’re all so very dull). But it seems like these are the favorites to win. Meaning, I won’t look forward to seeing my phonebill after Melfest ’cause I’m going to do everything in my power to get Wiktoria, Ace or Oscar to ESC.

I think it’s gonna be men’s year:

Frans – Has great song and he is a fresh name. His staging isn’t big, it’s simple and pure.

Robin – Beautiful song, harmonica and that charisma.

Oscar – Quite an impressive song, with a message. Great voice and feeling.

Samir & Viktor – Catchy, modern pop song, with EDM-elements. Entertaining show.

Panetoz – Uptempo-song with a lot of energy.

David – Modern pop song and amazing laser-show.

Boris Rene – Catchy song, with R’nB-elements, charismatic singer.

@Denis: The UK does have a criteria … never like the entry that is regarded as highly favourite amongst the other juries and televoters together … in 2013 their hatred against Robin Stjernberg’s You was so explicit – Simon Proctor couldn’t stop bashing the song as utter filth – that they ended up giving their 12 to …. Copacabanana … which means that the UK prefer the joke entries, the weird stuff, the kitsch, the bad taste to real musical content. After all we all know that the UK has always regarded Eurovision as a joke therefore it should only… Read more »

Denis: Jon Henrik Fjällgren got 51p last year, Only a few points More Than 6:th place and 71p less then Måns Z. I Do think that the jury have the same criteria like the juries in ESC! Christer Björkman is the boss here…

And Jon Henrik had a show and sang Very Good!

Why Eurovision is dead? Because now it is too complicated! “Experts” ruined it, because they are not in fact experts of Eurovision Song Contest, but they are experts of bad complications.

MGR
MGR

At least it will be top 3 as Hasse Andersson last year, but Frans is clearly worse option for ESC because he is too boring, and too similar to other entries. Sweden with him will not stand out. Game over for Sweden and ruined Eurovision Song Contest. Now this is not big show, but boring contest ruined by “experts”.

As a Swede I can tell you Samir & Victor will be nowhere near the top on Saturday, let alone win. They add a fun element to the final and that’s why they ended up there in the first place, but a lot of people here see them as trashy. I think they will end up around 8th-10th (people’s vote) and even further down once the juries have their say.

Denis

Again, everyone seems to be experts about jury-voting in Sweden and how they will vote because there is criteria. But you can’t really know. Like how last year everyone knew Jon Henrik Fjällgren would fail with the juries. It was to weird, to ethnic, a joke entry, difficult to understand and so on. He ended up getting 3rd with the juries, even getting a 12 point from U.K. So what was the criteria? And the year before everyone knew without a doubt Sanna Nielsen would win the jury-vote but lose the tele-vote. Great performance, great singing, good song. a ballad,… Read more »

From the “About” description of this website:
“We’re inclusive. From trendsetters to the disaffected, from teenagers to more mature readers, wiwbloggs welcomes everyone with equal enthusiasm. We know a lot about Eurovision, but understand that our readers do too. We reflect trends, but we do not dictate them.”
I hope that helps.
Please can we by nice to each other, and ‘come together’ in music? 🙂

“Which is wrong because unlike Maragret he can actually perform live”

What?? First of all you are swedish.. And you like Frans, what a chock.. No.

And Frans cant perform at all! He is really bad. The jury has some criteria that they have to relate to when they vote. For an exempel the song and the show. There is many to Good Songs this year! And also many Good shows! Bye bye Frans sorry 🙂

Denis

Gosh, everyone seems so sure that the juries won’t like Frans at all and calls him Margaret of Sweden. Which is wrong because unlike Maragret he can actually perform live and doesn’t come off as a ice-queen doing so. You all seem to be 100 percent sure the juries won’t like him, for no real reason except for being afraid he actually will win. There’s nothing to suggest the juries will dislike him. I find it hilarious that you all take the time to discuss our selection and claiming that you know how things will go down when in fact… Read more »

Many people in Sweden seems already see Frans taking a big victory. But I do not think it is so certain that he will win. I think i Will get the most votes of the Swedish people, but of international juries I hardly believe that he is at the top! I like statistics and checked youtube. It tends to be that many Eurovision fans upload their top lists for the Eurovision Song Contest on youtube every year. I followed this a few years now and it usually correlate roughly every year with what the international jury thinks. Have compared the… Read more »

They put Isa against Saraha just for voting. If they would let Isa go against Albin and Mattias then the Swedes won’t vote as much as they did last night because its too predictable, same for the other duels (except duel 4, dolly style, btw gj purple one!).

Frans’ song touches me personally, but Molly Sanden has the next best performance. My cousin loves Saraha! So i guess there’s no accounting for taste! 🙂
I think Sweden winning ESC all the time would just be depressing, anyhow. (Anyone remember Ireland dominating in the 90s? Are you sure you want that again?)

Loo.. please. I know you want Frans to win. But there are obsticles. Frans may be swedes Margaret, but without the massive support from Europe. That she didn’t win is proof enough that anything can happen. And they had 100% televote! We don’t. And you know what, I really hope that the juries stop him from winning. Because I’ve seen too many comments about how bad and boring Frans is. We should send something that can have chance to at least reach a top 5 or 10 even if we don’t win again. As a host country. I won’t cry if… Read more »
