Amir, the French-Israeli crooner who will fly the tricolore at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, gave a live performance of his entry “J’ai cherche” last night. But this isn’t the version Amir will be taking to Stockholm – that will be debuted this Saturday on the DiCaire Show

Amir’s live performance of “J’ai cherche” was included in his setlist at the Soup’r’bol, an event sponsored and organized by MFM Radio in Lyon.

This live version, along with the version revealed last Monday, is not the final version that will be sung in Stockholm. As France 2’s Director of Entertainment Nathalie André recently explained, a new remix of the song will ensure it is within the three-minute limit for Eurovision, and will have a stronger ending. This version will be debuted this Saturday on the DiCaire Show at 21:00 CET.

Last night’s performance was relatively solid. Amir’s energy matched the song well, he stayed on-key, and he kept his look cool and modern. The only weak point was Amir’s enunciation when it came to the English chorus. A bit more work on making the consonants strong will go a long way for him.

I know many many French musicians?refused to accept to entry Eurovision
contest, Because This Contest is not Contest prefer Game, very darty money
and sometimes political use, I think european person have many problems about economy or terrorist ,You must spend money for Syrian people, not stupid music game.
It’a game game game like kids,
Also ,this contest is not need Star like Justin Bieber, Adel, Il Divo, Micheal Jackson .
Very diffirent Grammy ,even Sanremo Festibal,

adios

He is so cute and likeable. Plus, the song is modern and catchy.

France got it right this time and they will be in top 10. Please prepare a good stage performance

the chorus, the beat and the clapping sound remind me awful lot of Good Man Down by Ewert & The Two Dragons, the “You-uu-uu-u-u-u reminds me of one previous swedish song, dont remember what year, there was “all because of you-uu-u-u-u-uu-uu!” in it

My 3rd favourite this year and the best French entry since Patricia Kaas! Now it just needs a killer staging.

@Malcom? – You have to understand 2 things: France has lost any sort of faith, credibility, pleasure, joy on the competition for a long time … since the early 80s such feelings started to wave away … and turned into complete lack of appreciation and severe criticism for the competition. Having said this, and as a consequence, many of the new biggest stars in France such as Kendji, Indila. Zaz, Tal, Amel Bent, M. Pokora, etc have never expressed any kind of interest in the competition citing that it would not give them any musical credibility and could easily harm… Read more »

This year ,the lowest level,
It’s really easy to France win,
But I think Spain is winner
The song is so Great,
The Vocal is so powerful
Purfomance is Sexy,
Maybe France is 3th

He is not so bad
But I want see, Matt Pokora or Kedji Girac,Indila,Zaz,
Why France has many good mysicians and singers,
Always entry Eurovision song Contest, not so famous ones,

Amir has the whole package, and i’m not just talking about his body. :p
He seems very comfortable up there and is effortlessly handling the falsetto voice against the chest voice that the song requires. I thought his English was okay enough for a French entry – wow, thank you French broadcasters for selecting him. 🙂

For the author of this article: It would be a great idea to be careful with the French name of the song. It’s not “J’ai cherche”, but “J’ai cherché”: In French; accents are very important, and in this case, prononciation is different, so it’s the meaning.

I really believe this has great chances to win the whole thing. France, this year, will finally be back to the top 10. Hope the performance is just as expected, and also hope the running order helps as well.

Sounds strange, but all the big 5 have great songs this year!

1. Italy
2. France
3. UK
4. Germany
5. Spain
