Frans has been the hot favourite to win Melodifestivalen 2016 since he took the stage during Deltävling 4 in Gävle and last night he blew the roof off Friends Arena during the international jury rehearsal.

wiwibloggs caught up with Frans to chat about potential costume changes, the reception to his song in Sweden and how he feels going into the final of Melodifestivalen tonight. “If I Were Sorry” will be sung tenth in the running order.

The reason the song is so popular?..

It’s Nostalgic! It makes you feel a certain way. When I hear it, I see and I feel and I remember times when I felt the way I do when I hear the song.

It has a sing-a-long quality. It’s simple and honest.

There is no staging. It’s just Frans, a microphone and a monochrome backdrop.

It is small, but powerfull.

I believe Frans will win. People are questioning why his song is so popular – I don’t have a clear explanation. His looks, his voice, his accent, his laid back attitude, the simplicity of his staging – it all just comes together and makes a very captivating performance. No, I’m not from Sweden, and no – I’m well over my teenage years, but I still like it!

I agree with Frans, his song is bland by itself, sorry.
