Frans fought off strong competition from Oscar Zia, Ace Wilder and Wiktoria to win Melodifestivalen 2016 and is now set to represent Sweden at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest in May in Stockholm.
wiwiblogger Tobias caught up with the winner to find out where his head is at after winning the final, how he feels about the pressure of representing Sweden at home and whether he knew before performing at the final he’d won the competition.
I’m so tired of Frans long before esc has even started. I hope my country end up last this year so people learn and come back strong next year. Why we are still first with the bookies is a mystery. But I think we will fall next week.
I predict he’ll come around 22nd at Eurovision.
(although I’m quite bad at predicting)
It just makes me think of how Albania was hyped in 2015 or Poland in 2014 or Germany in 2013.
Huge hype before the contest and a lousy result in the final.

Gullible fans are at it again wanting Frans to win. Just wait for the contest in May. His song is not the only highlight in this contest.
Viewers at WHOLE contest look very general, with distance. They will like Frans, but they will not love him as Il Volo, Mans Zelmerlow, Loic Nottet, Polina Gagarina, Elina Born & Stig Rasta or Nadav Guedj.
Sweden 2016 = Latvia 2015
Sweden sends to ESC their Aminata, and they think that this is good, but this is now not swedish, but only latvian level!!!!!
davve, Finland was a favourite in 2006, but they are still outsiders in the historical context of Eurovision. It is hardly a country that always do well regardless what it brings to the contest.
PP, no. Look at any source from back then, Finland was the main favourite along with Russia.
davve
Greece was favorite in 2006.
Österikke
Oustider was Estonia 2001, Latvia 2002, Finland 2006, Azerbaijan 2011 , they win and nobody think that they have some chance for win.
Israel and Austria have not good on betting odds , we all know why, Austria is climbing on betting odds after semifinal.
@Österrike, you are wrong about Finland. They were heavily tipped to win months ahead of ESC 2006.
He will win ESC for sure. Congrats Sweden!
Eurovision in recent history is always about the same countries, that always do well. Only once in 4 years an absolute outsider can get away with winning, but that is only to keep Eurovision interesting.
1998 outsider Israel, 1999 to 2001 insider victories,
2002 outsider Latvia, 2003 to 2005 insider victories,
2006 outsider Finland, 2007 to 2009 insider victories,
2010 outsider Germany, 2011 to 2013 insider victories
2014 outsider Austria, 2015 to 2017 insider victories
Guess in 2018 we can cherish an upset victory for the likes of Spain, Slovenia or Moldova
He’s just saying that to be humble…. He was obviously going to win (sigh).
We all know that Frans wil be overrated in votes from juries at Eurovision , I predict TOP 5 with juries and only from 14 to 18 place with televote . And because juries I see Sweden in TOP 10 from 6 to 10 place.
@John Christian You should withdraw yourself from commenting here. I don’t think I’ve seen one comment from you that hasn’t been negative.
As for Frans’ song I think it’s terrible, but it’s too late to change the song, and they wouldn’t.
Apparently wiwibloggers have tons of videos and posts from Sweden in the birth canal
What is up with his behavior like always looking at the back and speaking to someone on the side?
@jPod could do, but I think we should give him a chance cos he did win it fair and square. otherwise, what’s the point in the national final?
I don’t like this song, I preferred don’t worry and constellation prize before this boring song.
He should think about pulling out from the contest and give it to someone who doesn’t have full and forgettable song like Ace Wilder or Molly Sanden…
