Contemplative

It’s nearing 40 years since France struck gold at Eurovision. Amir is the best shot they’ve had in a long time and to mark that the “J’ai Cherché” singer decided to cover “L’Oiseau Et L’Enfant” by Marie Myriam — France’s last winner from Eurovision 1977.

Before he starts performing, Amir politely states that this is “the first time” he’s performed this song. Well you could have fooled us — this is amazing!

This cover is also a chance for Amir to showcase his live vocal ability, which is nearly flawless. Amir is in it to win it, and we’d best keep an eye on him.

@johan: Juries understand quality … televoters need to be drunk to go for any load of crap and rubbish – again THANK GOD France won in 1977 or the bad reputation of Eurovision lack of music credibility would have started in 1977 … unless you don’t mind about music of course … after all televoters just want to be entertained …

Charles Fr Juries in that period love that type of song from french speaking countries, and we have listen this kind song from France 1969, Monaco 1971 and then from France in 1977 . If we had televonte in 1977 France would be in TOP 10 with televote . Germany had modern song for that period, Luxembourg also and song had in that period provocative lyrics for juries in that period. Austria is not joke entry, listen lyrics. Greece, Spain had catchy song, Finland also sound great with some etno motive in song in that period we don t have… Read more »

@johan: Thank God you were not voting that year LOL But I’ll agree on you about Finland … nonetheless France was and still is the best from 1977 whether that upsets you or not.

Luxembourg 1977 was so underrated in jury points, because song was to modern in lyrics and staging for that period.

Singing “L’Oiseau Et L’Enfant” these days has become a sort of a cliché that echoes some bitterness in France for now being able to win again after 39 years … but listening to Amir covering it gives a feeling of peace that we don’t always get through music specially today’s dance-pop crap … Still a stunning song 39 years later and a worthy winner in 1977 … and yes kids Eurovision existed way before you could dress up as a girl in front of a mirror and come out to the world on YouTube.

I’m just in love with him! And I love his voice! France 2016 reminds me of Hungary 2014, amazing singer, amazing song and beauty to die for!

Anyways, enough of that 🙂 I wish France all the best this year, they have one of the strongest songs on the contest this year and if they pull of a good stage show and Amir brings that voice, we could be heading to Paris next year!

A great singer with great chances of stealing a more than deserved trophy (39 years after their last)!
I would be very happy indeed to see France win but something tells me that they won’t! Just a feeling. I hope they do well regardless and I fully expect them to!!
