He sang for his native Belarus at Eurovision 2015, ultimately placing 12th in his semi-final.

And despite not making the final, “Time” singer Uzari clearly gained a lot of confidence from that experience, as he proved during his recent blind audition on “Holos Krainy” — Ukraine’s version of the international singing franchise The Voice.

During his audition, Uzari — real name Yuri Navrotsky — managed to entice judge and Eurovision 2006 singer Tina Karol to turn her chair

He sang Adam Lambert’s Ghost Town and absolutely nailed it, combining on-point vocals with some funky, sass-fueled dancing.

Tina, who took Sergey Lazarev’s place as a judge last season, asked Uzari why he decided to compete in Ukraine.

He responded: “It is interesting to be in a country like this.”

Do you think Uzari is going to be The Voice of Ukraine? Will he manage to get to the live shows? And what did you think of his cover? Let us know below!

actually Russians also participate in Ukrainian Voice and I already know about 2 Russian who’s been selected (maybe there’s even more of them). Our radio stations won’t rotate songs about love to mr Putin, however Russians who want to participate, to learn and to gain benefits can freely do so without discrimination. Also we have this season a lesbian who told that she came to the show with her loving one (I doubt she will be able to do so on Russian show). Every contestant have own goals and own comfort zone.

@Charles what are you talking about???! Ghostown is a hit in Russia, every major radio plays it several times per day. Adam Lambert has performed in Russia couple times and will perform on 18 of April: http://www.crocus-hall.ru/events/lambert16

There’s nothing wrong with Uzari competing in the Voice Ukraine and apparently the singer (Dimitry) from Litesound I tried to compete on The Voice Russia after Eurovision because I saw one of their videos and that was included in it 🙂 And Aliona Moon competed on The Voice Romania after Eurovision

I don’t see something wrong with Uzari’s decision to join The Voice in Ukraine. Aliona Moon did the similar thing by joining the Romanian version of The Voice years ago after performing in Eurovision.

From Eurovision to The Voice … it should be the other way around … I look at this as something particularly sad. And choosing Ukraine to be part of … odd … well if he wanted to sing Adam Lambert pretty sure Russia would not be keen on it. We all know why … But one great song to perform … he has some serious pipes indeed.

@Hrystia, Russian is foreign language for me. I have no legal or cultural obligations to understand it. If you can’t use English for your moaning, call someone from your Russian brat who can. You’re not in your mother Russia to demand someone to speak your rubbish language. period.

@V, another ukrainophobic comment from you. culturally Ukrainian and Belarusian is very close and we can understand each other languages w/o effort. unlike Russians who can’t understand us. yes, our law regulate Russian propaganda limits in country – as long as it’s our internal matter you don’t have to be concerned. unless you already built at least 1 Ukrainian school for 3 millions of Ukrainian natives who live in Russia? any Ukrainian radio stations? any Ukrainian libraries? oops, you jailed the head of the last library, that’s awkward question. give me a break. I’m discussing chances of Belarusian singers in… Read more »

Oxyk, another Russophobic comments from you. Petr Elfimov (Belarus 2009) and Intars Busulis (Latvia 2009) participated in the Voice Russia. So?
And I don’t get the culture ministry part. How is that a good thing to ban songs in a certain language and from a certain country?

there’s one more Belarusian singer with nice voice that week on Voice. astonishing cover. I have a feeling that Belarus soon can bring very serious competition to ESC table 🙂

I loved ‘Time’ and they should have qualified last year in the final. Oh well, that was last year, best of luck to him on The Voice

He and Maimuna absolutely deserved to qualify last year, instead of boring Hungary, for instance

interesting. nice to see that Belarusian talented singers decide to join our Ukrainian show instead of Russian. Definitely he have voice and have solid chance to win, great asset and we will welcome his desire to sing in native Belarusian if he wants, and he’s right at time to get easy radio spots – our ministry of culture request from radio stations to kick Russian singers from rotation and keep 50% of material in Ukrainian or from Ukrainian artists to promote them. Belarusian singer can get that spot too. good luck to him 🙂 it’s the right time to get… Read more »
