Oh Spain, cradle of Eurodrama!

Two of the Spain’s most recent Spanish Eurovision acts have had a bitter feud recently, with “Amanecer” singer Edurne refusing to sing with Lucía Pérez, the 2011 representative, on Luar, a TV show on Galician television where Lucia regularly performs.

The drama carried over to Twitter, when Lucía tried to explain what had happened:

(Translation: As many of you are asking me what happened on Friday with Edurne, I want to make clear that the program proposed that we sing together…)

(…on my side, I was ready from the beginning, but you can deduce the rest. Kisses and don’t stop the music!)

To which the Tigress responded half an hour later (not directly, but one can imagine…)

(I’m not one to give advice, but before judging, one has to be VERY sure of the truth!! And now you can also deduce)

EURODRAMA ALL OVER. And Edurne is not amused, as you can see:

Well, let’s calm down by enjoying some music. Here you have Lucía’s performance on Friday, of her song “Qué más da” (what difference does it make, the most appropriate title ever).

Will Spain ever tire of all the Eurodrama? Will this diva fight go on? Can time take the fun (ahem) away from them or will a new rivalry rise at the break of day? *yes, it was hard to fit both translations into one phrase.* Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, why don’t you tell us what you think in the comment section?

Last year, Edurne should have just STOOD STILL and sang her song.

All that dancing and melodrama looked ridiculous. Even those creepy wolf dancers from Azerbaijan looked less stupid than her lame tiger-like hand gestures.

Honestly, that song could have made top 5, but she hammed it up.

Edurne needs to fire her manager though. That woman can actually sing (so what was her Eurovision 2015 live performance? a rigged one???) which was quite surprising to me and then here’s her manager trying to ruin things for her by not letting her play at bigger venues in Spain and just restricting her to judging a reality TV show. I mean come on, even Polina Gagarina and her management decided it was good to play good venues while she judged Golos Season 4. Eurovision made Edurne known to a bigger audience and she and her management should have capitalized… Read more »

She was hand-picked to be the spanish representative last year, in other case she would never wanted to go through a preselection to avoid the shame of getting beaten by others. So highly regarded of herself. This is so in contrast with what Barei achieved this year. Very few people knew her, then she became the fan favorite in 3 quick minutes. That’s how you gauge the quality of an artist. Spanish music market is so rigged these days. We’re really not taking care of quality music/artists. It also has some kind of linking with our bad results these last… Read more »

Edurne es una petarda que no consigue colar un single en la radio ni pagando…que se dedique a lucir palmito con su novio que se le da mucho mejor que la musica.

One thing Edurne does very well is taking care of her little fanbase and also makes a fantastic PR job of every little controversy that surrounds her. You’ll find few people defending her like crazy with little arguments, anywhere. Fanatics.

I mean, it is not a 850K twitter fanbase, this is a fake number heavily inflated by her “sex symbol” condition in Spain. Otherwise, she would probably be the female Enrique Iglesias at this point. Reality is she’s not making concerts anywhere bar small towns in the summer. She’s not demanded, rather hired by local authorities.

Both are nice girls.

I understand Lucia’s reaction but I think is a problem of Edurne’s manager…

Remember how “nice” he was last year. He had several problems with Spanish eurofans, Jose María Iñigo (Spanish TV speaker) … and so son. His wife is Mónica Naranjo, a singer who is always saying bad things about Eurovision Song Contest.

Edurne had not problems with any artist… Stop Lies. And she is now a jury on “Got Talent” which is having a really goos ratings, this is not “Telebasura”. Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate… The Spanish music market is living bad days and Edurne has released six studio albums since 2005. Not many artists in Spain have this opportunity but you can go on saying that she is a loser… And she is a beautiful person, she is always very kind with all people and artists, I don’t understand why people are always insult her. It’s so sad.… Read more »

I guess Edurne is just protecting her profits. Her music really doesn’t connect with the spanish people. That’s the reason she’s not sharing her little market with anyone.

OTOH, no bigger artist in Spain wants to make a duo with her. That’s the other hurting side of the coin for her.

Not the way to treat your colleagues.

Please… I can’t be reading all of this things xD. Lucía Perez is a nice girl but who does she think she is to obligate Edurne to sing with her? Edurne has a stable career since 2005 and she is so loved here in Spain. Spanish like European people only know Lucia for Eurovision, I’ve never listened to another song of her in my life. And “Que me quiten lo bailao” sounded a bit ridicoulus (sorry, but it was what people thought) in spanish to be compared with a piece like a Amanecer. I’ve already seen everything xD

Edurne used Eurovision last year to revamp what it is a broken musical career. Her overall popularity was falling so much in these last 3-4 years. She really never cared much about giving her best and just reflecting on what her compatriot is doing this year, it’s like night and day in the amount of effort they both put in. This fake popularity she’s having now will have the same fate in a few years. By that time she will probably be De Gea’s woman so no big deal. She will not come again to Eurovision, we don’t want her.… Read more »

Hahah I just love this kind of divas battles. Anyway, as someone said, Lucia at
least didn’t do as bad as Edurne in televote, and she is humble.
On the other side, Edurne always pretends to be a Diva and just cares for her looking, when she is nothing in Spain (talking about Music industry) and she lives thanks to TV shows and we still don’t know why she is hired (like it was for Eurovision) becuase she has zero charisma and is so boring.
Long life to eurodrama.

Edurne laid an egg last year with a potential top 10 song. She should be humblier but that’s a difficult task considering she’s now everywhere in the spanish tv as the “most desired famous woman for the spaniards”.

She should go back to music or go start an adult career so straight man can get what they want. Be generous with the people that gives you the fame.

Lucia earned 3 times as many points as Edurne did for her country, and Lucia actually had a good song.

Edurne, that 10% singer. 90% model, tv presentor, erotic role model, etc.

She really comes across as a very good person for so many spaniards. A true make-up personality for the masses. In fact she really never speaks herself out.

I always believed she’s a professional “stabber” and that’s the way she gets so much tv presence. She’s just a prefabricated product from a 2005 tv show. Not a true artist.

Now I read this and I reinforce my thoughts.

The other one. I don’t know who she is.

I think Lucia was a great representative of Spain in 2011. Edurne I think it is very arrogant and and many people commented that rejects its way through Eurovision
