Choosing her song for Eurovision 2016 was a truly extended affair.
But for Malta’s Ira Losco, it all paid off on Sunday when she wowed the audience at the Russian Eurovision Pre-Party in Moscow with her song “Walk on Water.”
Ahead of the concert Russian wiwiblogger Dayana caught up with the Mediterranean diva, who is making a triumphant return to Eurovision fourteen years after her second place finish at Eurovision 2002 in Tallinn.
Interview: Ira Losco at the Russian Eurovision Pre-Party:
When we met up with the 34-year-old stunner, she hadn’t yet seen Moscow: her flight only landed a few hours earlier at 06:30 local time.
But she still managed to put on a light dusting of blush to help her natural beauty shine.
“I remember back in 2002 it was easy,” she says. “You just came here and you were part of the line-up in the concert. I think the difficult part was if you had to sing first. There was just that part, ‘What number am I going to sing?'”
She also expressed her admiration for Molly Pettersson Hammer, who wrote the song alongside a bunch of talented songwriters.
“She’s a brilliant singer, a brilliant writer too….I was very proud to have Molly as one of the co-writers.”
“I am definitely sure that we are going to see her representing her country another time at the Eurovision Song Contest. I have faith in her.”
Two favourites, one red carpet
She may feel like she can walk on water, but she can also walk on a red carpet!
Ira wore a beautiful black blouse with skin-tight trousers with decorative cut-outs, and elongated her perfect legs in a pair of sky-high platforms heels.
Apparently she forgot how cold Moscow is compared to sunny Malta and was feeling the chill.
Thankfully, fellow Eurovision favourite Sergey Lazarev noticed she was freezing and handed her his coat!
So, what do you think of Ira’s appearance at Moscow? Do you think it will boost her chances next May? Let us know in the comments section below!
@Yurii, i can easily agree with most parts of your opinion, but last year’s winner Mans i didn’t like his song, it did not wow me
@Light Star, well i am gonna cheer the best i can for her and for Samra from Azerbaijan ( also a very good singer and good looking as well)
and you know what Russia’s song is growing on me 🙂
Hottest singer this year….ooofff
She’s the woman’s Lazarev this year. Great musical production, charismatic singer, nice voice, but the song lacks the “hook” last winners had. Less is more.
@Light Star
Always look on the bright side of life, my friend, you haven’t seen the staging yet, i’ve got a feeling that they’re gonna impress with the staging 🙂
@redarrow
thank you for this positive feedback
ira losco great singer great song 12 points
and @Alexia
don’t worry, i’m your support for Malta 🙂
@Alexia, i meant before the semi final
of course i know Amber and Gianluca have over 1 million views, and Kurt over 2 million
but this song has reached 1 million views even before the semi final 🙂
@Nicky91
Your in the wrong.
Both Amber and Gianluca have over 1 million views and Kurt Calleja has over 2 million views.
LOL guys sergey lazarev has a very sexy girlfriend how could you think he was flirting with Ira?!?!
@Anton
well i see it as a compliment to Ira i guess 🙂
and good luck to your favourite, and hopefully both Russia and Malta will qualify to the final 🙂
@Nicky91
Noo never 🙂 i will always love her feet , indeed i would like to be a slave for her feet 😉
@Anton
haha, but does this change your mind on Ira 🙂
@Nicky91
Indeed Sergey is trying his chance to throw Ira to bed 😉 he is very flirtatious 🙂
@Anton
okay, well Ira is just beautiful, and she’s a good live performer 🙂
and Sergey giving his coat to Ira, i like how friendships exist thanks to eurovision 🙂
no Nicky i am not joking this time. i really like feet, they turn me on 🙂
@Anton
i like your sense of humour 🙂 🙂
I agree with people wants to see her feet c’mon wiwi!!
@Jan
are you jealous, that she looks stunning and she sings stunning 🙂
this is just their opinion 🙂
You should rename this website to Irabloggs.. Its only Ira, Ira and Ira… Cmon there are other and much better artists this year… Ira is just average…
@John Doe
thank you, and i appreciate that
i want more respect to all artists competing for their countries this year 🙂 🙂
the act i didn’t like who came back was Dana International with that annoying song Ding Dong, and Dana didn’t even show up at some of the pre party’s, that was a arrogant diva, for my opinion and i was so happy she didn’t qualify to the final, in 2011 i believe 🙂
@Nicky91
Thanks, good luck to you too.
@John Doe
that is maybe true, but look on YouTube, she got 1 million views, first Maltese entry to do so
I wish your favourites the best of luck this song contest, also your country best of luck 🙂
@Nicky91
“He laughs best who laughs last”
@John Doe
you are in the minority, my friend 🙂 haha
I don’t like Malta’s song at all.
@Alexia
well she got my vote, and i hope lots of people who like her will vote for Malta as well
first Maltese entry to have 1 million views on YouTube btw 🙂
Pre-party in Moscow was just awesome. And that’s a shame there’s practically no information about it on wiwibloggs!
I hope people pick their phone up and vote for Malta. They really deserve it!
i need to see her feet first to have an opinion about her presence
Amazing – love her
