Amir is continuing his charm offensive by releasing an all-English version of “J’ai cherché”. The new version is called “Looking For You” and has been released in his former home country of Israel.

Listen to “Looking for You”

Amir has serious roots with Israel. While he was born in France, as a child he moved to Israel with his family and grew up there. In 2006, he was a contestant on the talent show Kokhav Nolad (A Star is Born), before moving back to France where he found fame on The Voice.

Israeli media have been keenly reporting on Amir’s Eurovision journey, with interest in him along with Hovi Star.

The English version of “J’ai cherché” is titled “Looking For You” and will be released to Israeli radio. France is not famous for sending English songs to Eurovision, but you can tell they are in it to win it when they have released their Eurovision song in a full English version.

Amir is keeping busy on the pre-party scene. Tomorrow he’ll be performing at Eurovision In Concert – and we’ll be chatting with him in Amsterdam.

On Tuesday 12th he’ll be returning to Israel to make an appearance at the Israel Calling pre-party, and on the following Sunday 17th he’ll be performing at the London Eurovision Party. We’ll be at all events, so stay tuned and check our YouTube channel for exclusive coverage.

Amir – “Looking For You” (lyrics)

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You-ou-ou-ou-ou

I looked up for a way out of the dark
Let go of my defensive heart
Started again without a scar
Was looking

‘Cause you know I had paid the price
Even my heart was playing nice
No one to listen to those cries

But now I’m
Apologising for the last time
I want you and I’m gonna keep trying
Nothing to regret now
Sorry, I’m not sorry
Not anymore

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song

I looked down to a point of no return
Nothing to lose, nothing to learn
All I could do was feel your burn
I was hoping

That you would be ready at last
To leave the worst and take the best
Sing me the verse I’ll do the rest

Cos now I’m
Apologising for the last time
I want you and I’m gonna keep trying
Nothing to regret now
Sorry, I’m not sorry
Not anymore

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song

I’ve been carried to shore
Had my soul ready to soar
When I was lost I know it’s true
That you were somewhere out there waiting
Too-oo-oo-oo-oo
Oh you, you, you, you

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song
Like the melody of my song

Cos now I’m
Apologising for the last time
I want you and I’m gonna keep trying
Nothing to regret now
Sorry, I’m not sorry
Not anymore

You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You’re the one that’s making me strong
I’ll be looking, looking, looking for
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Like the melody of my song
You-ou-ou-ou-ou

I think this will place 5th-10th

If we take a look at the past, no winner has had any kind of similarity with the last one

Mäns-Conchita-Emilie-Loreen…all very different from their predecessor

I like it more in english, but okay song both ways. I kinda understand the hype though, based on the last winner

Amir is doing all the right things.
France definitely needs to capitalise on Amir’s charm. He has a great smile, great look & great moves. This is all on top of a great song.
He’s moved into my Top 10 now.

France is really working it this year. They want it, that’s good! Finally they takes Eurovision seriously again. France is after all one of the great countries in this competition 😀

Love it.
I really think the Eurovision version loses something by not using the bridge more frequently, it was the best bit of the song in the original! France seem to be putting a lot of effort behind this….a good sign!

Even more spectacular than the full English version of this song … it’s the fact that so far France is above Russia on the OGAE (or Ogay whatever LOL) polls and for as long as that remains I am delighted <3 Music wins … BS down the drain 🙂

Songs are different of course, how stupid that would be. But it talks about becoming strong-minded, just what Mäns was trying to imply with the child abuse issue. Soft singing. Friendly Face. Good-looking guy. Go compare the clothes in the music video and the 2015 swedish act. (This is just the cherry on the top, but laughable) Hero-uo-uo-es! You-ou-ou-ou! *Trapped* You can see there’s a trend this year in France, trying to follow the path of Mäns. I already explained it. Now, whoever wants, go watch it and make their own conclusions. I’m not trying to convince anyone, just making… Read more »

#Streffen When you listen Mans and Amir’s song where did you see a copy? They are totally different, dont be bad or jealous if you are not alright with others opinion, there is a lot of other ways to say you dont like this in being not agressive. Anyway juste bold and send us a part of the both songs where its the same thing..

Not buying a song that in its music video suggests woman should also use violence and goes cliché with mannered man.

And he’s just following the path of Mäns in style, message, attittude, even clothes. Ridiculous copy.

BTW he has a very questionable live.

Europe will move one step forward this year.

People is just reflecting on the last winner, until they find the truth on May 14th.

Not a winner. At all. Sorry.

I’m so curious about how the stage performance will be…

And to all of you who says that this will flop like France did in 2011 must think twice. This is not the same case at all. Of course France did flop in 2011, the song was too dated.

This year’s song is current, popish and most of all very universal. This song could be played on any radio station in any town in any part of the world any day.

English version will not help France at all. Main problem with this year’s french entry is that it’s not french at all.

France is really building momentum right now. Just like Måns did last year. If they don’t mess this up with a dull performance in May, I think that France is the one to beat atm.

Someone pointed out that if France were to host the contest next year, it would be the first time in many years that french would be the main language. I don’t think that will be the case then, EBU will most likely only approve english as first language in the show. It will probably be a lot more french included though.

Cordialement,… Read more »

Great song still. English might give it more success in Israel, though it should be a hit here anyway. I would also risk saying that this has the greatest hit potential of all 43 entries this year, regardless of it’s final position in Stockholm.

I actually expecting it to suck but it’s quite decent. There’s just something about the French language (that I don’t understand) that makes it a million times better. For some people, I guess they hate what they don’t understand but for me, I seem to love what I don’t understand.
