She’s an Asian sensation ready to rock Eurovision 2016 for Australia.
But before she does Dami Im is busy promoting her new album “Classic Carpenters” on which she covers 70s easy listening duo The Carpenters.
The first track — “(They Long to Be) Close to You” — just dropped and hints at just how different this album will be from the K-Pop style she’s known for.
DAMI IM – (THEY LONG TO BE) CLOSE TO YOU
Dami is most definitely mellowing out, but her style and styling is as fiery as ever!
She begins the video clip posed as some sort of porcelain doll seated behind a piano. Draped in a simple, yet sophisticated white gown, she works it solo before additional musicians appear out of nowhere.
The 27-year-old slays her way through the 1970’s-esque camera changes, piercing your soul with her electric eyes and drawing you in with her smooth, silky voice.
The song demonstrates her exquisite control, which we’ve all grown to appreciate since her appearance on The X-Factor Australia in 2013.
In recent weeks Dami has faced a bit of a backlash from Eurovision fans, who question her decision to tour Australia to promote this album, rather than touring Europe for Eurovision.
Some have speculated that she has been working on her “Classic Carpenters” album since mid-2015. It would appear that her pre-existing promotional schedule prevented her from flying out to Europe. But rest assured! Dami doesn’t need promo to pick up votes. Her live performance should be more than enough.
Dami’s new album “Classic Carpenters” is due for release in Australia in late-April, with an international released to be confirmed. She kicks off her 34-date national tour in July.
