Building bridges may be a thing of a past but that hasn’t stopped Malta’s Ira Losco. The 2002 runner-up has constructed one from the island nation all the way to Armenia in the east by visiting the country and spending time with Armenia’s representative, Iveta Mukuchyan.
With the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest fast approaching, competing artists have been busy promoting their entries all around Europe. At the Eurovision pre-party event in Moscow, Ira Losco met and befriended Iveta Mukuchyan and ultimately decided to visit her country to learn more about its culture.
The two divas visited some of Armenia’s greatest landmarks. From visiting the Garni temple and the Geghard monastery to touring the capital of Yerevan, the stars spent time together and looked fabulous doing it — they are, after all, both currently in the top three of Eurovision’s Next Top Model 2016.
On her visit to the land of apricots, Ira stated, “My visit to Armenia was fascinating. I loved the country, its rich culture, ethnic cuisine, the beautiful nature and of course the people, who were very kind and hospitable. I had a wonderful time.”
Iveta had many kind words for Ira in turn, stating, “I was so excited to see Ira in Armenia. We first met each other during the pre-party in Moscow and have been good friends ever since. She’s such an amazing person. Beautiful, talented, strong. I truly admire her and the work she’s doing as an artist. It was so much fun to chill with Ira and share with her my country’s culture and traditions.”
With 2015 inspiring Måns Zelmerlöw and Guy Sebastian’s bromance and Australian tour, and the five divas from Vienna who collaborated on “The Otherside”, we can’t help but wonder if a collaboration is in the works for Ira and Iveta.
A diary episode covering Ira Losco’s time in Armenia will be made available on Sunday on Iveta’s official YouTube channel.
Armenia and Malta will both compete in the first semi-final in Stockholm on May 10th.
Iveta?????????I LOVE YOU IRA LOSCO I LOVE YOU (misht araj)
Goo Armeniaaaaaaaa Go Maltaaaaaaa
Azerbaijan is not afraid of no one
@Nigyar
why that would be just childish if Azerbaijan wouldn’t for her because of that, it’s called song contest right
and i agree with @Helena, she could’ve cancelled her trip because of the bombings, but she didn’t, she deserves respect
and she also has visited Prague, to meet Gabriela and sing her song there 🙂
So cute. They look like sisters.
This is so stupid to visit Armenia and not visit Azerbaijan. She will not win for sure
It’s so nice to see them together, two my favorites. While the other favorites are biting each other in social medias these beautiful ladies come together 🙂
It is just amaring that Ira visited Armeenia during it’s hard times. She could’ve cancelled her trip because of Azerbaijan bombing the territories of Armenia. She is a brave heart I guess
@Tony
you don’t know that, on the other hand maybe Armenia will be giving 12 points to Malta 🙂
Respects go for both. Talented and beautiful ladies. Build bridges, ladies and bring peace.
@Tony When you rig like certain countries (az*erb**j*n) it throws away the legitimacy of your votes!!
I guess Azerbaijan won’t give Malta points this year after this 😛
@Briekimchi
thank you for this comment, and to this quote from Ira “My visit to Armenia was fascinating. I loved the country, its rich culture, ethnic cuisine, the beautiful nature and of course the people, who were very kind and hospitable. I had a wonderful time.”
I have respect for her, and this is what i really like about eurovision the exchange of different cultures and languages 🙂 🙂
With respect to Samra and Iveta being friends, I don’t see either part approaching eachother as I am pretty sure that they’d both be grilled in their home countries… Sad but true… I don’t remember when but a couple of years ago if I remember correctly, in Miss Universe or something (I dont follow peagents, just remember reading about this) Miss Armenia and Miss Azerbaijan took a photo together which led to public outrage…
I like it when contestants become personalities beyond the contest. Last year, Tamar from Armenia won everybody over and this year, it seems as if the likes of Barei and Amir are following suit.
I really want to like both of these ladies!
@Ben Rafter
well said, and this also shows what a warm and kind person Ira really is 🙂
I hope that Iveta and Samra become friends! Armenia and Azerbaijan might be at war because of some land but they have very similar cultures! Sad, really. Same goes for Russia and Ukraine, similar countries but technically still at war.
The land of apricots is actually today’s Turkey, the historical Anatolian homeland of the Armenian people.
@georgekirkas
i couldn’t agree more with this comment 🙂
@Colin
so true 🙂 🙂
@Harut
Respect for you as well 🙂
Both deserve to be in Top 3.Amazing and ao talanted artists..Good luck guys..I’m so happy
Lovely 🙂 This is what Eurovision should be about – sharing different cultures and positive vibes. 😉
It’s so cute when artists competing for different countries become friends!
